SHADES

I got 11 eye shadows in total and here are the swatches!

How beautiful are they!

Here’s a breakdown of the shades and the individual swatches and up close shots:

 

 

Fringe (Metallic) is a “shimmering champagne with gold and silver glitter”. It’s opaque at first swipe and there were no fallouts when applied with a brush. I’ve never worn this all over the lids as it’s too light – it’s perfect in the inner corners though! I love this as an inner-corner highlight.

La La (Metallic) is a true rose gold with a frosty, metallic finish. It’s a copper shade that’s a bit pinkish, but when compared to Sequin, it’s not as pink/red. This makes a stunning lid color and I loved applying it with my fingers for added intensity.

Sequin (Metallic) is pinker than La La and has silver and gold glitters. It’s a true penny-bronze shade and makes the perfect base for a coppery smokey eye look. This applies so smoothly with minimal fallouts, just like the rest, but I find that the glitters don’t really adhere to the skin well when applied with a brush. I see a lot of glitter fallout underneath my eyes by the second hour of wear. However, when applied with my fingers, the glitters adhered much better.

Game Face (Ultra Metallic) is an intense, orangey penny copper shade and has a very warm tone which looks stunning on warm complexions! I wore this together with Sequin and they blended out together so effortlessly. They lasted for over ten hours over the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

On The Rocks (Metallic) is a dark, vibrant true bronze with gold and violet glitter. I was so surprised when I saw it upclose and saw glimmers of purple sparkle. I don’t know why they chose purple and it is so unique – I love it! Even though it’s very subtle and you won’t be able to notice it unless you look really, really closely. I used this on the outer corners along with Sequin and Game Face – those three make a gorgeous, sparkly coppery eye look!

Drift (Pearlized) is a true cranberry shade and is the least pigmented at first swipe out of all the shades I purchased. It’s still gorgeous though. Upclose, you’ll notice it’s got violet, red and silver sparkles. This was one of the shades that was a bit more difficult to blend. I wore La La all over the lids and applied this in the outer corners, and they blended seamlessly together, but blending this wasn’t as smooth and easy and blending creamier shades like Game Face and On The Rocks.  I still highly recommend this though!

Mooning (Pearlized) is a rich blackened bronze and is perfect for creating cut-crease looks and for the outer corners. It has got slight gold and silver shimmers. This would look stunning as an all-over-lid wash or as a contour color on the outer corners.

Bae (Metallic) is my bae! It’s a toned-down version of Partridge! It’s a rich, eggplant purple shade with an emerald and turquoise glitter duochrome effect. This shade is probably my favorite out of the bunch.

The pigments in Partidge create the duochrome effect, whereas with Bae, the glitters is what creates the duochrome effect because the plum base shadow itself is plain. Both are super stunning! I wore this in my crease when I wore Partridge all over the lids and the complement each other really well.

Partridge (Pearlized) is a stunning green – brown duochrome and reminds me of Makeup Geek’s “Insomnia” Pigment, which I reviewed here. It’s also similar to the MAC “Blue Brown” pigment and Too Faced Pretty Rebel palette’s “Girly” shade.

The colors will change depending on the angle it is seen from, the lighting, and also the base color. Read more about this here in my Makeup Geek review (specifically about the Insomnia pigment). That’s the beauty of duochrome shades!

This, honestly, wasn’t as intense as the Makeup Geek “Insomnia” pigment – the duochrome in the pigment is obviously stronger, but this is still beautiful nonetheless. I wore this once over the lids on top of a matte brown eyeshadow and it was gorgeous. It’s a more “toned down” version of the Makeup Geek “Insomnia” pigment.

As you can see below the Insomnia pigment is much brighter and has a stronger duochrome effect. The brown tone is also much redder than Partridge. When I wore the Insomnia pigment all over my lids, I applied this on the lower lashline and it complemented it really well.

Mermaid Kiss (Pearlized), when swirled together, creates a gorgeous neon yellow-green combo but the color payoff isn’t too intense. It’s still gorgeous though!

Dare is also one of the sheerer colors, and is a shocking, bright neon purple with hot pink and violet glitter. I tried wearing this on the lids but because of the intensity of the glitter (I gotta warn ya, this is a super glittery shade!) it can become a bit patchy when blended. I ended up removing the shade completely and wore something else for the day, not because I don’t like the shade, I just needed more time to figure it out! When swatched on the hand, of course it’s lovely! When I have more time up my sleeves I will definitely give this a try, and I’m sure I’ll love it once I’ve figured it out.

 

TEXTURE

The texture of these eyeshadows are very soft, buttery, and somehow slippery. They’re not identical to the “bouncy” texture of the blushes – they don’t create an indentation as deep the blushes do when pressed against.

It has some kind of a cream mousse to powder consistency and glides on the skin so smoothly and effortlessly. I find that they’re best applied with fingers, not brushes.

These remind me of the Chanel Illusion d’Ombres but these aren’t as bouncy and puffy to the touch.

 

STORAGE

These Colourpop blushes (and eyeshadows) are very delicate. Due to the uniquely creamy and jelly nature of their products, you have to make sure you close the lids very tightly after use. I’ve heard of instances where products dried up due to air exposure. So if you choose to purchase these Colourpop blushes and eyeshadows, make sure you store them well and close ’em lids tightly after use!

 

FINAL VERDICT

All in all, I can’t recommend these enough, these are so incredibly high quality and for US$5 a pop? They’re worth every penny.
