Haul: Burberry Beauty Wet & Dry Silk Shadows (Shell, Nude & Rosy Pink) and Spring/Summer 2015 Nail Polishes (Pale Yellow, Stone Blue, Hydrangea Pink)

So here’s Part 2 of my haul!

Burberry Beauty has got to be one of my favorite cosmetics brands of all time – I loved their foundation, concealer, blushes and lip mists but never tried their eyeshadows, polishes and lip velvets. So I thought, why not give them a try?

My favorite purchases were definitely the polishes, though!

Burberry Wet & Dry Silk Shadows

Wet & dry eyeshadows are currently taking the beauty world by storm – it’s trending everywhere and almost all brands are trying to come out with them!
I’ve tried my fair share of them, the NARS ones being my favorite so far. I have yet to review these though!
NARS Dual Intensity Eye Shadow “Dione” (top – wet, bottom – dry) and NARS Audacious Lipstick “Anita”
I love the shade Dione from the NARS Dual Intensity so much, but for some reason, the other colors don’t really stand out to me. They were somehow a bit patchy. I’ve swatched the NARS Dual Intensity palette too and they weren’t over-the-top amazing. The reviews have been so mixed so I’ve been contemplating on whether I should get them for so long. Now that I’ve tried these Burberry ones, I’d probably hold off getting the NARS palette for a while.

These ones from Burberry are so amazing. I have yet to wear them on the lids yet but they look stunning when swatched, and they were so easy to apply. They weren’t patchy or uneven, which could happen with wet shadows.

Price

These retail for AU$45 at David Jones and US$29 (equivalent to AU$41) at Nordstrom.
The NARS Dual Intensity shadows retail for AU$38 at Mecca Cosmetica and US$29 (equivalent to AU$41) at Sephora.
So the Burberry are more expensive, of course. I’m guessing it’s because of the value of the Burberry brand, but I’m not too disappointed because the quality is impeccable.

Quality

Based on the rating at Temptalia, the Burberry Wet & Dry Silk Shadows in Nude and Shell scored a perfect 10/10 (A+) with a “Temptalia Recommends” badge while the NARS Dual Intensity shadows scored an average of B+.

Shades

The shades I got are as follows.

No. 003 “Shell”

“Shell” is a warm, bright golden shade with tinges of orange. It has a beautiful metallic sheen.

I can envision this shade as a beautiful, brightening all-over-lid shade, or even just as a highlight in the inner corners!

When swatched dry, the color payoff wasn’t excellent – I had to build it up a couple of layers for it to show up as it did in the swatch above. However, when applied with a wet brush, one swipe is super intense and vivid, and completely opaque!

No. 002 “Nude”

“Nude” looks like a taupe shade under some lighting, but is actually a greyish, brownish medium-dark golden brown with a frosty metallic finish.

This shade would look amazing all over the lids!

With one, dry swipe this shade has amazing payoff but looks much more of a brown-gold shade. When applied wet, it looks much more greyish.

No. 201 “Rose Pink”

Rose Pink is literally a “rose pink shade” with beautiful warm undertones. This is a shade I’ve been eyeing for a while and I’m so glad I finally got it!

The swatches below make it seem like it has cooler undertones, but in reality it’s actually warm.

This would be a fun shade to wear in the Summer months. Or even Spring! I can’t wait to wear this shade.
It looks like a shade that’d be amazing as a blush too!

Burberry Spring/Summer 2015 Nail Polishes

I never intended on getting these polishes, but once I swatched them on my nails… I was sold!

Burberry Nail Polish Spring/Summer 2015 No. 415 "Pale Yellow", No. 431 "Stone Blue" and No. 402 "Hydrangea Pink"
L – R: Burberry Nail Polish No. 415 “Pale Yellow”, No. 431 “Stone Blue” and No. 402 “Hydrangea Pink”
I have five different colors on my nails as I swatched them in store – and I only have one layer of each color on! Can you believe how intensely pigmented they are?
Best thing is, aside from the opacity and pigmentation, they dried out so fast! I was swatching one minute, and doing other stuff the next – and they did not budge at all.
What you see in the photo above is basically one layer, with no base or top coat, dried out in less than a minute. I am so overly impressed.
I wanted to get all three colors but limited myself to getting three first. I got three from their Spring 2015 line and these are all pastel-inspired shades. Here are the colors that I got:
Burberry Nail Polish Spring/Summer 2015 No. 415 "Pale Yellow", No. 431 "Stone Blue" and No. 402 "Hydrangea Pink"
L –  R: Burberry Nail Polish No. 415 “Pale Yellow”, No. 431 “Stone Blue” and No. 402 “Hydrangea Pink”
Left to right are Pale Yellow (pale, pastel yellow), Stone Blue (medium-dark pastel blue), and Hydrangea Pink (rosy, dusty pastel pink).
I’m also in love with the packaging! How gorgeous are they!
I am particularly obsessed with Hydrangea Pink because it’s my favorite shade of pink. I love dusty rose shades and this one is just so perfect for my skintone. These retail for AU$29 at David Jones and US$22 (equivalent to AU$30) at Nordstrom. I really think they’re worth the investment.

So I hope you all had a lovely weekend!
