By Terry Ombre Blackstar Review

I know these have been out for years now, and I’ve had mine for honestly over two years. One of these is actually the second one I’ve had because I finished up the first one I’ve got. I’ve had it for that long, even before I started blogging, and I’ve recently rediscovered my love for it.

Check out my By Terry Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadows review below.

By Terry has always been one of my favorite brands – I swear by her lip treatments (Baume de Rose and gloss), her moisturizer (Creme de Rose Nutri-Lift), Hyaluronic Blush, and these cream shadow pencils.

If you love the Maybelline Color Tattoos, this is a trillion times better (with a more metallic and shimmery finish!) because 1) it lasts much longer, 2) is much easier to blend out, and 3) comes in a stick form, which of course is a huge plus because you won’t need to dip your finger into anything, is much lighter and travel-friendly too.

SHADES

The shades I have are as follows:

Bronze Moon is a shimmery classic bronze with a super metallic finish. It has specks of shimmer too. The tone is very neutral which makes it amazing for people of all skintones. It’s a shade that works wonders even when worn on its own.

This is my favorite shade out of the bunch and I’m on my second tube already! I have another one (the third) waiting in my backup stash. This is my go-to eyeshadow when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to apply powder shadows with brushes.

Blond Opal is a shimmery gold champagne shade, perfect for highlighting the inner corners of the eyes. It’s very subtle when applied in the inner corners and matches my neutral-warm skintone perfectly.

Velvet Orchid is a dark plummy purple and is the least metallic and shimmery out of the bunch. It kind of has a frosty finish and when blended out, will somehow turn rather black. No hints of purple at all when this is blended out. This is the one I use the least, to be honest, but it still is amazing and the staying power is out of this world. I’ll show you what I mean soon!

Here are swatches of the three:

These swatches were just one swipe of the product. How crazy pigmented are they?

TEXTURE

The texture of these are very buttery and slippery when applied, and can even be blended out using an eyeshadow brush. I personally love using my fingers, or if I want to use a brush I love using the MAC 217 brush.

However, do note that these dry out and settle really fast – and once it sets, it WILL NOT BUDGE.

LONGEVITY

These last at least 12 hours without fading, and it will not budge until removed. I’ve never worn it for more than 12 hours.

And let me tell you, removing this is such a pain in the butt. No kidding. It’s so difficult to remove! I guess that’s a good thing?

In the photo above, I struggled to remove the swatches on my hand with my Bioderma. I had to use an intense gel/oil based makeup remover to remove it. My holy grail cleansing oil, Dermalogica Precleanse, can remove these effortlessly. So I recommend using an oil based cleanser to remove these so you won’t have to tug your eyelids.

FINAL VERDICT

PROS:

  • Beautiful colors
  • Incredible pigmentation
  • Slim, space-efficient packaging
  • Luxurious packaging
  • Creamy, buttery and blendable texture
  • Long lasting (very, very long lasting)
  • Can be worn alone

CONS:

I seriously can’t think of any. Maybe the price? LOL.

So if you’re looking for an eyeshadow pencil or crayon that won’t let you down, I highly recommend these.
