Charlotte Tilbury Haul: Filmstar Bronze & Glow, Dole Vita Quad, Pink Venus Lip Cheat & Coachella Coral Lipstick

    Hey everyone!

Sorry I’ve been MIA for the past week. Had a little health drama! 🙂

Was hospitalized last Thursday for Bells Palsy and a brain nerve inflammation which caused numbness and weakness in my right limbs. What I thought would only be an overnight stay turned out to be a 5-day stay! 🙁 I’m still in the process of recovery and I’m still wearing an eye patch on my right eye (coz the Bells Palsy paralyses my right eye – I haven’t been able to close my right eye for the past week!) so reading and writing (typing) has been super difficult with just one eye, but I’m still gonna try! Two days before my hospital admission I hauled a few Charlotte Tilbury goodies online and when I returned home from the hospital, my goodies were there waiting for me on the dining table. I couldn’t be happier!

Curious to see what I got? Let’s unpack with me! Read on to view all the beautiful close ups and swatches!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation vs. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation

    Hey, loves!

Ever wondered what the differences between these two are?

I had a hard time deciding which one I should get when I was at Boots late last year because they seemed so similar! So I’ve broken down the similarities and differences between these two in this post.

The Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (Radiance Reveal) is basically a bit thicker and is medium to full coverage with a semi-matte finish, whereas the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation is much lighter and has less coverage, but has a more dewy and luminous finish.

You should also check out my review of the Bourjois Nude Sensation foundation, which I’ve reviewed here, that has a sheer coverage with skin-like finish, absolutely perfect for no-makeup makeup looks!

So… Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation vs. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum – what are the differences?

Note: For the purposes of this review, I will refer to the Healthy Mix Foundation (Radiance Reveal) as the “Regular Foundation”.

    Liebster Award Q&A

Thank you so much Rachy from Rachy McKenzie for nominating a Liebster Award for me. Super sweet of you!

Rachy is a graphic designer whose blog covers things such as beauty, design, fitness and health – such a whole rounded blog! Make sure you follow her blog!

The Liebster Award is basically given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers by other bloggers in the community. The word “Liebster” itself is German, meaning “sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, loveliest, cute, endearing, and welcome” – how sweet is that!
Blogging is about sharing and caring after all, so this is a great way to get to know other bloggers and help spread the word about new bloggers.
So once again, thank you Rachy!
Read on to see my answers and my nominees!

    Rules

    • Thank the person who nominated you by linking their blog.
    • Answer the 11 questions the nominator gave you.
    • Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers (I assume on Bloglovin or GFC?).
    • Create 11 questions for your nominees.
    • Let your nominees know by getting in touch with them.

    Rachy’s Questions

    1. What is your favorite perfume?

My signature scents are either Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfum or the Dyptique Paris Olene Eau de Toilette.

    2. What is the next beauty product you intend to buy or would love to try?

I can’t wait to see the limited edition Holiday sets from Sephora! Almost all brands in Sephora will release Holiday palettes or sets around Christmas time, I can’t wait to see what they’d be like.

I’m also interested to try the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush palette!

    3. What is your favorite trait about yourself?

This is probably the most difficult question. LOL. I really don’t know, maybe the fact that I’m a very persistent and determined person?

    4. Who is your role model?

      My dad 🙂

    5. Are you a morning or night person?

Definitely a night person. I’m a zombie in the mornings.

    6. What is your most repurchased beauty/haircare product?

Definitely the Aussie 3-Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner – I’ve lost count how many bottles of this I’ve gone through, and ironically they’re not available in Australia. I always purchase them when I’m in the UK or the States! So weird! Why is it named Aussie when it’s not even available in Aussie?! Anyway, this is my favorite and go-to hair conditioner.

For makeup, it’s the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil, which is my holy grail brow product (beats my Anastasia Brow Wiz!). For skincare, the Creme de La Mer.

    7. What is your favorite quote?

Current favorite one is this one that I just posted a few days ago on Instagram:

A rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose. All flowers are beautiful in their own ways, and that’s like women too.” (Miranda Kerr)

    8. What has made you smile today?

I had fun announcing my first giveaway winners ever! So exciting! 🙂

Oh, and I ate cake. Always a good day when there’s cake.

    9. What is your favorite makeup brand?

Definitely NARS. From primer to foundations, to eyeshadows, lip products, blushes, and even brushes – they’re all top quality. Hands down, my favorite brand – won’t even think twice to answer this question.

A close second would be Kevyn Aucoin.

    10. What skill would you like to learn?

I’m currently looking into flatlay photography – really want to acquire the skills of taking bright, shadowless product photographs.

    11. What is one thing you are proud of?

      I’m proud of my education.

Proud that I was one of the youngest graduates from Monash University’s Juris Doctor of Law program, and that I attained my Certificate of Makeup Artistry from Napoleon Perdis Makeup Academy during my third year in grad law school. I’m also proud that I’m currently still in school – I’m two courses away from obtaining my Master of Arts degree in Theology.

I take education very seriously! 🙂

    My Nominees

    I hereby nominate:
    1. Georgia Jade – Georgiia Jade
    2. Char Hennessey – Char Takes On Life
    3. Colleen S. – Beauty Bibliotheque
    4. Nhi Nguyen – Sincerely Blushaholic

    7. Lisa – Multitasking Damsel
    8. Lauren Voges – Dandyliner
    9. The Beauty Diaries X
    10. Sorren – Young Mum Stuff
    11. Roanna – Parade of Love

    My Questions:

    1. If you could only live with three makeup products for the rest of your life, what would they be? (Specify brand names and shades if applicable)
    2. If you could invent an ice cream flavour, what would it be?
    3. Pick one – clear skin, but bad, frizzy and uncontrollable hair vs. bumpy, acneic skin, but great hair?
    4. What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning, and the very last thing you do before you sleep at night?
    5. What’s the one thing (trends, shows, music, anything!) you wish would come back from the 90’s? If you were born in the late 90’s, then something from the early 00’s.
    6. What was the last thing that made you laugh?
    7. If you could live anywhere in the world for the rest of your life, where would you live?
    8. What is your number one go-to song when you’re feeling down?
    9. Which TV show (currently airing) do you think has the best makeup, hair and fashion?
    10. Name one beauty product that received a lot of hype on the Internet, but was a disappointment when you purchased/tested it.
    11. What is your favorite season?
    Thanks for reading!
I hope to see my nominees’ answers soon! XO

    Instagram Giveaway Winners!

First of all I’d like to thank everyone who entered! Thank you so much for all your support. From when I started the giveaway with 500 followers, I now have almost 1.9k and that’s just incredible.

If you didn’t win, please don’t be disheartened – I will be hosting another giveaway when I reach another milestone, hopefully at 2.5k! Can’t promise exactly when because my baby is due next month, so the timing is a bit unpredictable, but will definitely have one again!

    So here are the winners!

CLICK HERE for the original giveaway post.

Read on if you’re interested in the drawing process.

    Drawing Process

The winners were chosen randomly through www.random.org.

Out of approx. 160 entries, only 136 were eligible – some of the entries were from spam accounts, some people weren’t following me, some did not tag their friends, and some entered more than twice (so all of their entries had to be disqualified).

I listed all of the eligible entries on a spreadsheet in Excel and generated a random number through www.random.org.

The first number that was generated was 77, and entry no. 77 was @lottiexobeauty. So she won the first prize, the makeup set!

The second number that was generated was 1, and entry no. 1 was @youngmumstufff. She claimed the body & skin care set! I was honestly surprised by the number generated – who would’ve guessed that out of 136 numbers, it’d choose number 1?!! So lucky!

I was actually surprised by both numbers generated, LOL. 77 is such a pretty number, and 1 is just WHOA.

So anyways, CONGRATULATIONS to @lottiexobeauty and @youngmumstufff!

    Hope you’ll enjoy your prizes!

    XO

    August 2014 Beauty Favorites

Eek! Can’t believe it’s that time of the month again! No, not that one, the other one – the time for favorites! *cue confetti shower*

Today marks my 32nd week of pregnancy (only 6-8 weeks to go!) and I seriously can’t wait, not just to meet my bub, but to get rid of all this nausea, backpain, dizzy spells and whatever else comes with pregnancy!

Anyway, this past month was honestly the most horrible month I’ve had (pregnancy-related, of course) so I stayed home 90% of the time this month, which could only mean one thing – I rarely get to wear makeup. Boohoo! Every time I go out I’ve only been wearing the exact same makeup items (too lazy to choose!) but it’s fun how I get to experiment with more skin care products.

    So, here it goes…

(PS: Thank you & much love to Roanna (@paradeoflove, www.paradeoflove.com) for tagging me to do this!)
