Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Kidman’s Kiss Review & Swatches

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Kidman's Kiss (1)

My wakeup call this morning surprisingly wasn’t my son slapping me, pinching my nose and walking all over my belly – it was actually a delivery from Charlotte Tilbury!

I received the package early this morning with a Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips lipstick in the shade Kidman’s Kiss and that is enough to make my whole day.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Hot Lips Collection features 12 brand-new shades and 4 best-selling favorites, all inspired by her most iconic celebrity clientele.

“I’ve bottled the DNA of 16 inspiring celebrities for my new Hot Lips range. It’s the ultimate all-female beauty collaboration!” – Charlotte Tilbury

This collection was also created for a great cause: Woman for Woman International. For every lipstick purchased in the first two months of sales, $2 will be donated to support women survivors of war, poverty and injustice.

Read on for my Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Kidman’s Kiss first impressions review and swatches.

Formula & Color Payoff

The formula of these lipsticks is the highly coveted Matte Revolution formula. It’s a highly pigmented matte formula. However, I find these to have more of a semi-matte, satin finish, which makes them feel so comfortable on the lips. My lips are currently very dry and chapped, but this lipstick didn’t accentuate any of the dryness, nor did it worsen my lips’ condition.

The shade Kidman’s Kiss is a gorgeous, warm petal-pink nude, and is described in the following way:

This just-kissed petal pink is reminiscent of the flourish of color added to lips in the hand-painted photographs of the ‘30s. Perfect for all complexions, especially gorgeous redheads like Nicole Kidman.

Here’s the lipstick swatched on my hand:

…and compared against two lipstick shades I already own, Bitch Perfect, a warm nude, and Coachella Coral, a bright reddish coral:

The shade is absolutely stunning and I can see myself reaching for this lipstick a lot.

Longevity

I have only worn this for about 3-4 hours by now. I’ve had breakfast and it still hasn’t faded much, which is pretty impressive.

Will update this section after I’ve given it a few more tries, but Charlotte’s lipsticks in general have great longevity. I’m sure this one is no different.

Packaging

Now, this is where it gets disappointing. Sad thing is, I always have this problem with my Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks.

When I wind the lipstick up the first time, the bullet was perfect. However, once I wind it down, it was immediately nicked on its side. See below.

This is because when it is being wind down, the bullet somehow nudges the side of the tube. As you can see below, some of the product was caught on the neck of the tube.

For US$32, it’s disappointing that I never encounter this problem even with cheaper lipsticks. I really hope they do something about this even though it may not be that big of a deal since it does not interfere with the color, formula or application of the product.

I’m personally willing to overlook this matter because the formula and color is stunning. However, this issue does make me doubt whether I would purchase more of her lipsticks. I already have two and I adore the two colors I have. If I were to purchase more, they would be colors that I really, really like and will reach for a lot.

Price

In Australia, these retail for AU$48 each and can be purchased from the Australian Charlotte Tilbury website.

In the US, these cost US$32 each and are available from Beautylish, Net-A-Porter, Nordstrom, and the Charlotte Tilbury website. Some of these websites also ship internationally.

Final Verdict

Overall, I personally love this color and will still purchase one or two shades from the collection because the colors and formula (and stunning outer packaging!) justify the price despite the issue with the packaging.

What do you think of this lipstick collection? Will you be getting any?
