ipsy August 2017 Review

Ipsy August 2017 Glam Bag

I’m so excited I finally get to try out an ipsy Glam Bag! I’ve been wanting to try it out for so long, and since I haven’t been that impressed with the Sephora Play boxes, I had high expectations for them.

Well, did they fulfil my expectations?

Check out what I got in my ipsy Glam Bag this month – and what I wish I had gotten! 🙂

WHAT I GOT

The bag itself is really cute, I like the current theme they have going on! Very bright, Summery and fun!

As for the contents…

First off, I got a Naked Cosmetics HD Finishing Translucent Powder. I’ve never heard of this brand before so I’m definitely intrigued. It’s pretty small, comparable to the travel size versions of the NYX HD and Make Up For Ever HD setting powders size-wise, but the powder itself feels so much softer, and is more finely milled! I was so surprised to see how well it lasted throughout the day too! I went to an end of Summer pool party at a friend’s house last weekend and my face was sweat-free and soft to the touch the whole entire time I was outdoors under the scorching sun (while the rest of my body was sweating and felt sticky!). The full size retails for US$23.99 on their website but ipsy has a 30% off discount code IPSY30 valid through 30 September 2017. I will definitely repurchase when I run out!

Another thing I love sooo much from this Glam Bag is the Pacifica Coconut Blush Duo. Colors included are Beaming, a muted terracotta, and Tenderheart, a soft mauve. They can be worn separately or layered/combined together. These have a gorgeous satin finish that gives the skin a subtle glow and added dimension. Since coconut is an actual ingredient, I was hoping these would smell something like the Physicans Fomula Butter Blushes (reviewed here), but they sadly don’t. Nevertheless, the colors are subtle yet stunning and I will continue to use these! Sadly I haven’t been able to find this duo ANYWHERE – maybe they’re an ipsy Glam Bag exclusive product? The individual blushes retail for US$12 though, so I’m so happy I got this duo. Ulta currently has a Buy 1, Get 1 40% off promotion for all Pacifica products.

Another one that I liked is the Sundays Nail Polish in No. 7 as I love nude pinks and beiges on my nails! This specific color is described as a beige rose and would look flattering on all skin tones. I’ve never heard of this brand and I’m glad I discovered them through this month’s Glam Bag as they are cruelty-free, vegan, 10-free and non-toxic. They retail for US$18 and can be purchased through their website.

We also got a tiny eyeshadow sample from theBalm Voyage Vol. 2 Eyeshadow Palette in Kuwakaribisha, which is a pale peachy shimmer, perfect for highlighting any parts of the face (yes, I used this as a cheek highlighter and it worked!). I love that the sample is so tiny, but there’s still a decent amount of product in there – it’s perfect for travelling! The palette retails for US$39.50 (currently US$37 on Amazon) and comes with 9 eyeshadows, 4 cheek colors, and 2 lip shades.

One thing I wasn’t too hyped about is the Air Repair Skincare Super-Hydrating Eye Cream, but only because I’m currently looking for a new eye cream. I haven’t even opened this tube yet, but will definitely give it a try within the next few months as it has pretty glowing reviews on the ipsy site. This retails for US$23 on their website and ipsy has a 20% off discount code IPSY, valid through 30 September 2017.

WHAT I WISH I HAD GOTTEN

Definitely the Glamour Dolls Romantic Rose Blending BrushCatrice Cosmetics Highlighting Powder, or Firma Beauty Angled Contour Brush! I’m currently not in the market for new skincare products so I’m much more intrigued by makeup and tools!

What did you get in your Glam Bag? Do you think this subscription is worth keeping? I’m definitely going to keep my subscription but will probably cancel after 3 strikes! 😉
