Haul: Burberry Beauty Wet & Dry Silk Shadows (Shell, Nude & Rosy Pink) and Spring/Summer 2015 Nail Polishes (Pale Yellow, Stone Blue, Hydrangea Pink)

So here’s Part 2 of my haul!

Burberry Beauty has got to be one of my favorite cosmetics brands of all time – I loved their foundation, concealer, blushes and lip mists but never tried their eyeshadows, polishes and lip velvets. So I thought, why not give them a try?

My favorite purchases were definitely the polishes, though!

Burberry Nail Polish Spring/Summer 2015 No. 415 "Pale Yellow", No. 431 "Stone Blue" and No. 402 "Hydrangea Pink"

Haul & Swatches: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints in 6 Green Iron, 9 Cold Copper & 12 Gold Ashes

I was roaming around aimlessly in the city yesterday and somehow found myself in the beauty department of David Jones. I wonder how I got there. LOL. Anyways, I was paying for my Burberry Beauty purchases (which will be my next post!) and I saw these beautiful iridescent, metallic tubes from Giorgio Armani.

David Jones Haul: Burberry Beauty Nail Polishes, Wet/Dry Silk Shadows, Lip Velvets and Giorgio Armani Eye Tints

They turn out to be the new Giorgio Armani Eye Tints and they are UH-MAZING! I got them in the shades 6, 9 and 12. And it’s a silly coincidence that all three numbers are multiples of 3 LOL. Check them out!

L - R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints "9 Cold Copper", "12 Gold Ashes" and "6 Green Iron".
L – R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints “9 Cold Copper”, “12  Gold Ashes” and “6 Green Iron”.

      Shades

Here are the shades that I got:
L - R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints "9 Cold Copper", "12 Gold Ashes" and "6 Green Iron".
L – R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints “9 Cold Copper”, “12  Gold Ashes” and “6 Green Iron”.
6 Green Iron is a warm, olive/moss green shade and has a beautiful metallic finish.
9 Cold Copper is a frosty, warm golden brown and also has a metallic finish. In some lighting it looks like a warm taupe shade.
12 Gold Ashes, my favorite, is a stunning metallic golden champagne with silver sparkles. This will be perfect for highlighting the inner corners of the eyes!

      Swatches

Here are swatches of the three beauties. Each shade is swatched twice – left swatch is the swatch straight from the applicator, right swatch is blended.
These swatches were taken  in direct sunlight:
L - R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints Swatches "9 Cold Copper", "12 Gold Ashes" and "6 Green Iron".
L – R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints Swatches “9 Cold Copper”, “12  Gold Ashes” and “6 Green Iron”.
      These in shade:
L - R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints Swatches "9 Cold Copper", "12 Gold Ashes" and "6 Green Iron".
L – R: Giorgio Armani Eye Tints Swatches “9 Cold Copper”, “12  Gold Ashes” and “6 Green Iron”.

      Texture

The texture of these eye tints are very unique! They’re basically liquid-to-powder eyeshadows, so they have a creamy, almost mousse-y texture, but once applied and blended, they become soft and velvet-y like powder.

      Usage

They can be used in so many ways – as a primer (base for powder shadows), an all-over-lid wash of color, or as a sheer “top coat” for any eye look.

      Applicator

The eye tints come with a doe-foot applicator.
The size is perfect for the eyelids!
I haven’t worn these yet since I’ve only purchased them yesterday, but I’m really looking forward to wearing them! These will be perfect for travelling.
Have you ever tried these Giorgio Armani Eye Tints? What do you think of them?
Let me know in the comments below!

Update: I have worn these numerous times and they are amazing! They lasted over 8 hours on my lids without primer, and last even longer with primer. I love using this as a base for powder shadows! They make any powder shadows layered on top look much more vibrant. I highly recommend these!

Oh and the mousse-y texture makes it so much easier to blend with your fingers than the By Terry Ombre Blackstars, which I’ve reviewed here. (That one’s awesome too, it just requires a bit more work to blend out).

      Review: Topshop Lipsticks

I can’t believe I never bothered browsing through the beauty aisles of Topshop! Now I’m hooked!

Here’s a quick review on these two adorable lippies that I just snatched from Topshop Emporium two Sundays ago!

      Hey, loves!
Sorry I’ve been MIA for the past almost-two-weeks! Been swamped with tons of work from a number of exciting projects I’m working on. One of them was revamping my makeup artistry website – check it out here! I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on hiring a web designer, so I had to do everything myself and am proud of the outcome! It’s still not perfect though, but it’ll get there in a few days’ time. 🙂
Now, I have I’ve been a huge Topshop fan for years but I can’t believe I’ve never bothered going through their beauty aisle! I feel like giving myself a big slap – or punch – on the head!
I’ve only ever purchased one of their nail polish sets because it was in the register queueing line, and I ended up liking their polishes. Can’t believe I never bothered swatching the makeup products.
So, last Sunday I was accompany le hubby in Topshop (yes, I was actually the one accompanying him! LOL) and I got bored… So I thought, why not check out the beauty aisle?
Long story short – I was so surprised and impressed!
I found my new favorite cheap lippies! Omagaaah.
      So here’s what I purchased:
Two lipsticks and an eyeliner brush (which I LOVE!) – and the two lipsticks are Partition (Creamy Finish) and Brighton Rock (Matte Finish).
      Check out the swatches below:
Partition is described as a clear, bright true raspberry fuschia – pretty much identical to Lancome Rouge in Love “Midnight Rose 377” but about half the price! It has a creamy finish and is a bliss to apply. It’s very smooth, even and hydrating. My lips were in a chapped condition when I first wore this, but the lipstick didn’t make it worse. I’m so impressed!
Brighton Pink has a satin matte finish and is a vivid hot/shocking pink shade. It has a very similar, creamy finish to the Partition though, so I’m not sure if it truly is a satin matte shade. It is slightly drier than Partition, but still too creamy to be considered a matte shade. Doesn’t matter though, still a beautiful, vibrant shade!
Check out the lip swatches below:
Here’s my lips without any lip products – as you can see they’re very chapped.
And here’s one layer of Brighton Rock! It’s so creamy that it somehow “hides” the flakiness.
Both of these shades have amazing moisture and does not irritate the lips or cause chapping. If anything, they actually conceal the cracked lips.
Application is a breeze because the shape of the bullet fits the lips perfectly. The tip is very sharp and I love that about lipsticks! Since the texture is very creamy and pigmented, it also applies very evenly. It doesn’t drag on the lips and is not streaky at all.
They lasted for about 3 hours before becoming more of a stain. In total, they lasted about 6 hours, which is amazing for any lipstick!
Brighton Rock as a stain after 4-5 hours of wear.
One of the best things about these lipsticks are the packaging, though. It’s so adorable without being overly cutesy or girly.
Lastly, I just wanted to show you some photos of the liner brush. It’s a flat dome-shaped brush and is my favorite type of liner brush. I loved applying gel liner on my clients with this!
It’s tiny and the perfect size to bring travelling with me!
All in all, I highly recommend these Topshop goodies!
Will definitely try more of their beauty stuff soon!
Do you have any Topshop Beauty favorites?
Let me know in the comments below, I would love to give them a try!

Review: Rimmel Apocalips/Show Off Matte Lip Velvet

      Hey guys!!
I’ve got another review for you today.
These are the matte versions of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers which I reviewed here.
I have high expectations for these because I loved the originals.
Rimmel Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet in Meteoric Matte, Burning Lava, Orange-Ology and Atomic Rose, Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvet in Meteoric Matte, Burning Lava, Orange-Ology and Atomic Rose.
T – B: Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet in Meteoric Matte, Burning Lava, Orange-Ology and Atomic Rose.
I think the colors are much more wearable even though they’re on the brighter side. I have three shades from the original range and I really only use the shade Celestial (dusty rose) shade because the other two are way too bright for my liking.
You’ll see that I have two versions of the matte lip velvets – the Apocalips and the Show Off. This is because I purchased two of the shades in the States (Atomic Rose and Burning Lava) and “Show Off” and I was sent the other two shades from Rimmel Australia (Orange-Ology and Meteoric Matte). I really don’t know why the names are different in UK/Australia and the States!
Check out my review and swatches below!
The application method and packaging of these, including the applicator, are exactly the same as the Rimmel Apocalips/Show Off Lip Lacquers – you can read my review of those here. The only notable difference in the packaging is that the Matte Lip Velvets’ packaging have a matte finish.

      Texture

The texture of these are similar to the Lip Lacquers, but it doesn’t feel as oily or slippery. It’s actually velvety and applies evenly, but as with liquid lipsticks in general, they can be very tricky and awkward to apply. Application can be very messy if you’re not used to these kinds of products. It’s really hard to get a crisp application at first try!
This product isn’t one that you can apply in a rush or on the go, you have to have a steady hand and apply it slowly as the color is so intense and crazy pigmented, and it’s easy to make mistakes! Once you apply it out of your natural lipline, it’s really difficult to fix because the color stains the skin so quickly, which I think is a good thing because that means it’s so long lasting. However, just make sure you apply thin layers at a time and do it carefully.
Also be careful when pursing your lips – try not to purse your lips until the 10th or 15th minute because it will create lines and unevenness. If you want to blend out the color, simply use a clean finger.
The texture actually reminds me of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, which I reviewed here. However, this is much more dry-lips friendly. This doesn’t settle into dry patches/flakes and is very moisturizing even though it has a matte finish.

      Finish

These are supposed to be matte, I know, but they have more of a satin finish. They won’t turn matte until the first or second hour mark. They also feel slightly powdery when they’re in the process of settling into the lips.
So if you’re looking for something that would go completely matte at first swipe, this isn’t the product for you. I personally don’t mind that it’s not completely matte though.
If I want these to be completely matte, I simply blot the excess with tissue and the product turns completely matte.

      Shades

      Check out the swatches below!
Rimmel Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet in Meteoric Matte, Burning Lava, Orange-Ology and Atomic Rose, Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvet in Meteoric Matte, Burning Lava, Orange-Ology and Atomic Rose.
L – R: Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet Swatches in Atomic Rose, Burning Lava, Orange-Ology and Meteoric Matte.

My favorites are Atomic Rose and Meteoric Matte!
I’ve got the lip swatches below but excuse the bad lighting! Took these right before sunset and it looks a bit washed out. Will try to retake the lip swatches later.
In the meantime, here’s the breakdown of the shades.

      Atomic Rose

Atomic Rose is a beautiful light dusty rose, lighter than the Apocalips  Lip Lacquer in Celestial. It’s such an amazing, everyday shade.
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet "Atomic Rose"
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet “Atomic Rose”
It looks so pale here but trust me, it’s not as pale in person. It’s actually more of an MLBB (my lips but better) shade. The arm swatch is actually very accurate.

This is the only color that does not stain the lips, though. So once it fades, it fades away completely and I’m not surprised, given the lightness of the color.

This is my favorite and I’ve been wearing this a lot this past few weeks.

      Burning Lava

Burning Lava is a drop-dead gorgeous “burning” bright red. It’s more warm toned than cool, and is a stunning red for all occasions.
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet "Burning Lava"
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet “Burning Lava”
I rarely wear reds but this shade makes me want to wear red much more often!

      Orange-Ology

Orange-Ology is a full-on bright orange shade, and is honestly, the least wearable for me. I’ve actually never worn this shade out – it’s just not my color.
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet "Orange-Ology"
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet “Orange-Ology”
It’s beautiful but not something I would wear – but would be perfect for fashion/editorial photo shoots! I will definitely use this on my models/clients for fashion shoots.

      Meteoric Matte

Meteoric Matte is a gorgeous plum shade with neutral-warm undertones and is unexpectedly my favorite out of the bunch.
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet "Meteoric Matte"
Rimmel Apocalips / Show Off Matte Lip Velvet “Meteoric Matte”
This is how the shade looks after three hours of wear (and a meal!). The color is much more intense at first application, but I can’t believe it’s still this intense after devouring two huge quesadillas and a cup of coffee.

      Longevity

The longevity isn’t crazy amazing, especially if you expect the shades to remain as vibrant as when they were first applied for a long time.
I had these on for over 4 hours, but it has already become more of a stain by then. However, the stain never actually faded until I removed it at the end of the day. The only shade that does not leave a stain is Atomic Rose, and that’s because it’s the lightest shade.
Note that these smear easily, btw! I was playing around with my son when I had this on – less than an hour after application he accidentally slapped my mouth. (He still has terrible hand-eye coordination LOL). The product still hasn’t set completely even after about half an hour, so he had the lip color all over his palm and fingers, and the lip color smeared all over my mouth area too!
I guess the color won’t completely settle until the second or third hour mark.
If you’re looking for intensely pigmented and super long wearing lip products – try the Rimmel Provocalips instead, which I reviewed here!

      Final Verdict

      PROS:

Amazing color payoff and intense pigmentation
      Gorgeous shades
      CONS:

      Tricky application
Takes at least 2 hours to set and become completely matte
      Short wear-time
      Rating:

I’d give these 3.5/5 because of the short wear-time and the crazy length of time it takes for them to settle. Can’t blame them for the difficulty in application though, because that’s always the case with liquid lipsticks.

      Repurchase?

I would personally repurchase these, except Orage-Ology, but only because I love the shades and the satin-matte finish. If I could find shades like this with longer wear time, I’d definitley leave these.
Have you given these a try? Will you be giving them a try?
