Haul: Watsons 22% Storewide Members Sale

So… This happened on the one day I happened to be in Singapore – a 22% off Storewide Sale at Watsons!

Of course I had to splurge on cutie patootie Japanese makeup & skincare!

I happen to be a member because I do visit Singapore a lot (typical Indonesian!) LOL.

Anyways, remembering I still had a whole stash of Sephora & American drugstore stuff I still haven’t even touched yet, I had to hold back. I can’t imagine what would happen if I hadn’t held myself back.

So here’s what I got during the sale!

Note: So sorry for the somewhat “cloudy” photos! I always take my photos using natural lighting and cloudy days are just the worst! 🙁 And I don’t have time to edit the photos much, but I hope you would still enjoy them!

1028 Visual Therapy Macaron Eyes Eyeshadow Kit

I have a thing for macarons.
Hmm. Not just that.
Provincial French designs, pink tin packaging, and alluring powder shadows. Put them all together and you get this beautiful masterpiece – the Macaron Eyes Eyeshadow Kit (or palette) by 1028 Visual Therapy.
I’ve never heard of this brand before, but of course I was attracted to the packaging of the Macaron eyeshadow palette, I don’t care if I have never heard of the brand before! 😀

Here’s what it looks like on the inside:

And I hereby present to you, the swatches:

It comes with six neutral-toned eyeshadow colors, and is described as follows:

The Macaron Eyeshadow Kit consist of 6 alluring color shades, creating a stunning eye effect for all occasions. Most suitable for creating a sweet, innocent and dreamy look that is bound to dazzle!

I cannot agree more. The colors aren’t too vividly bright or pigmented, but they’re not worthlessly sheer either. They have this unique glow and dimension to them, which helps make the perfect “dreamy” eye look.

Honestly, I was very disappointed at first. When I was applying these, I thought, why are most Asian eyeshadows so sheer? What’s the whole point of using them then? I still ended up using them anyway just for the sake of testing them out. However, I actually received lots of compliments when I used them.

I used the peach shade (middle top) and the pink shade (middle bottom) as an all over lid shade, the pale yellow (top right) in my inner corners, and the two darkest shades (top and bottom left) as contour shades on the outer corners, but even those colors weren’t dark enough to create a smoky look.

But compliment after compliment, I started to realize that these colors weren’t meant to create sophisticated, dark looks. It’s meant to just give the eyes a bit of a pop, that it’s more about the sheen and glow. I realized that my eyes did glow. These shadows gave my eyes a “lift” that actually freshens up the whole face. They have certainly fulfilled their purpose.

I adore this palette now. It did have a bit of fallout but since they’re not overly pigmented, they’re easily dusted away. This is the perfect everyday palette, and the packaging is too cute for words. I will be writing up a separate post on this, and will include eye looks as well.

Verdict: 10/10

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery BB 3D Effect SPF 50

The Biore UV Aqua sunscreen used to be my holy grail sunscreen before I converted to using the Klarity Lasertox CC Miracle White Lotion. The Biore water sunscreen is so water-like that you can’t feel like you’re wearing sunscreen at all. I actually purchased two of the sunscreens for my husband, it’s his holy grail sunscreen too!

So when I saw that Biore UV has a watery BB sunscreen, I had to try it out! Too bad they didn’t have a tester for this because if they did, I don’t think I would’ve purchased it. The shade’s just way too light for my neutral light-medium skin, and it won’t adjust to my skintone even after hours of wear. I guess, as with most Japanese products, it’s targeted for people with super pale skin.

As you can see, the bottom part of my hand is the part where blended out the cream.

It didn’t really give much coverage as well. And I have no idea what the “3D Effect” is supposed to mean. If anything, it made my face seem matte and flatted out. However, oil-control was pretty good.

I will be testing this out more, hopefully I will find a way to maximize the use of this product, but so far, it’s a big disappointment to me.

Verdict: 4/10

Brigitte Romantic Prologue

Brigitte is honestly a brand I have never heard of before. The counter was so small but it really popped out to me because I was so attracted to the packaging of the products. So classy, romantic and pretty. I’m so glad I came across this Japanese brand because not only are the packaging adorable, the product quality is also amazing!
I got two products from the brand: the Brigitte Romantic Eyes PK-1 quad, and the Brigitte Romantic Blush RS-1 blush/highlighter duo.
Brigitte Romantic Eyes PK-1 & Brigitte Romantic Blush RS-1
L – R: Brigitte Romantic Eyes PK-1 & Brigitte Romantic Blush RS-1
I’m so bummed I couldn’t get the camera to capture the true saturation of the colors, I had to rely on natural lighting and it was so cloudy the other day so there’s not much I could do 🙁 Just imagine the colors to be brighter and more vivid!
The colors truly are romantic and I can definitely see myself wearing this eye and blush combo for date nights, or on Valentine’s Day!
Brigitte Romantic Eyes PK-1

My blush actually shattered, which shattered my heart. But I’m glad it was only the sides, so there aren’t any cracks in the middle, which would’ve devastated me!

One thing beffudled me though, there are expiry dates written on the packaging. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen expiry dates written on powder-based products like eyeshadows and blushes before. And I’ve got to admit, I usually keep blushes and eyeshadows for YEARS! LOL.
So what do you guys think of the expiry dates on here? Would it be safe to keep using them after they expire? I’m very unsure about what would happen if I use these stuff after the written expiry date.
Anyways, here are the swatches:
Brigitte Romantic Eyes PK-1 & Brigitte Romantic Blush RS-1
Brigitte Romantic Eyes PK-1 & Brigitte Romantic Blush RS-1 Swatches
The top row are the swatches for the eyeshadow quad, and the bottom row are swatches of the blush.I was pleasantly surprised by the pigmentation of the eyeshadows – they were very vivid, opaque and buttery smooth. Japanese makeup are mostly known to be on the sheerer side, so this is amazing!

The lighter swatch on the bottom left is the highlighter shade on its own, the middle swatch is the blush on its own, and the right is the swatch of the two swirled together. They make a very beautiful, luminous flush when combined. They make look a bit frosty when heavily swatched, but when applied with a brush, it will look very soft and airbrushed.

The discovery of these two are definitely the highlight of my shopping spree at Watsons! I can’t give scores on these just yet because I haven’t used them on my face. I’m hoping I can get a chance to review these separately in the future!

Canmake

Canmake is a brand I’ve always wanted to try, mainly because of their cute packaging. (Actually it’s the only reason). I’ve been holding back on getting Canmake products for years, but I guess buying it on sale wouldn’t hurt.
I purchased four products from the brand: a tinted lipbalm, two blushes, and an eyeshadow trio. Here are the swatches:

Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01, Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks 02, Canmake Mat Fleur Cheeks 02, and Canmake Eye Nuance 22
L – R: Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01, Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks 02,
Canmake Mat Fleur Cheeks 02, and Canmake Eye Nuance 22.

Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01

Below is the Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01, which is a moisturizing lipbalm-type lip color. They kind of remind me of the Revlon Lip Butters.
Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01
Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01
The bullet has a flat top, and the texture is very balm-like with a glossy, sheer finish. So it’s more of a tinted lipbalm than a conventional lipstick.
It’s also got UV protection, which makes this the perfect in-purse lippie because it’s also easy to just slap on, it’s sheerness makes it very forgiving, and the pinky shabby-chic-esque packaging is just ah-dorable!
Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01
Canmake Stay-On Balm Rouge 01
One thing that bothers me is just the color – it seems a bit too dark, that’s all. I feel like it’s so dark that is somehow sucks the “life” out of my face.  If it were a few shades brighter, it’d be perfect.Verdict: 7/10

Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks 02

I also purchased one Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks 02 – the embossing is just too cute, I can’t resist! When heavily swatched, it seems to be very pigmented, which was why I purchased this shade. Out of five shades, this one seemed to be the “darkest”, thus the one which would most likely show up on my skin. It also has a satiny finish with a bit of a glow. However, at first I was really disappointed by how sheer it was when applied on the cheeks with a brush.

Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks 02
Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks 02

I ended up using about SIX layers of this blush because I really wanted it to show up, but it turned out to be too much, my cheeks were really, REALLY bright. So, lesson learned – this blush is sheer but is certainly buildable.

I think around three to four layers should have worked just fine! The six layers actually lasted allll day on me – no signs of wear at all. LOL. I love it!

I just wish this blush had a bit more “glow” or luminosity to it.

Verdict: 8/10

Canmake Mat Fleur Cheeks 02

Another one I got is the Canmake Mat Fleur Cheeks 02, which has a matte finish. I’ve always known that Japanese makeup isn’t really known to have amazing matte products – they’ve always excelled in the “glowy” or “luminizing” side of the spectrum, but not mattes. So I wasn’t really surprised when this turned out very powdery and almost patchy. The shade, when swirled together, seems more fitting to be a highligter than a blush because it’s so pale as you can see in the swatches a few images above.

Canmake Mat Fleur Cheeks 02
Canmake Mat Fleur Cheeks 02
I have a weakness for adorable embossing! So I just had to give it a try even though the quality wasn’t really there.I will give this blush another chance but so far, it’s a disappointment to me.

Verdict: 4/10

Canmake Eye Nuance 22

Lastly, I got the Canmake Eye Nuance 22, which is honestly a big disappointment as well. There weren’t any testers for the shade I got, so I didn’t know how patchy and crumbly the shadows would be.

Canmake Eye Nuance 22
Canmake Eye Nuance 22

I was so surprised when I first got to swatch the shadows – they crumbled on my hand so badly, some of the crumbles started falling off. In the swatches above, you can probably notice a bit of unevenness in the white and pink shades – lots of gunkiness and clumps.

I haven’t worn this on my eyes yet, though. So I will still give this a try and see how I go. Hopefully it won’t be as bad when I use a brush to apply it with instead of my fingers. Not going to give my verdict until I try it on my eyes.

Cure Natural Aqua Gel

This is a repurchase, and this is truly one of my favorite exfoliators. Ever.
No wonder one bottle of this is sold every 12 seconds in Japan.
Cure Natural Aqua Gel
Cure Natural Aqua Gel
Unlike most gel exfoliators in the market out there, the brightening effect from this product is actually pretty long lasting. I’ve also noticed less pore clogging every time I use this religiously.
The last time I used this was over a year ago, I’m so glad I’m able to repurchase this again!
Verdict: 10/10

Eyeliners

I got four eyeliners in total – three of the Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner Wing in Intense Black (because they were on Buy 2 Get 1 Free special haha) and one of the newly packaged Koji DollyWink Liquid Eyeliner.

Koji Dollywink Liquid Eyeliner – Deep Black

I’ll get straight to the point. This cult product didn’t really work for me. I’ve tried the older versions of this liquid eyeliner, and whenever they come out with a new one I will always attempt to give it another shot, but always end up with a meh sorta reaction to it.

The ink is a bit too wet, it doesn’t really set until about 20-30 seconds, which is long when we’re dealing with liquid liners with a flat tip brush. The black isn’t too intense as well, I usually have to layer up the line to make it look much more intense.
Verdict: 6/10
The best and my personal favorite flat tip brush liquid eyeliner in the market today is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, which I’ve probably mentioned on Instagram a gazillion times. But I think I may have found something better…

Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wing Liner – Intense Black

…which is THIS.
Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wing Liner - Intense Black
Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wing Liner – Intense Black
OH. MY. GOD.
The brush tip is so smooth, the liner glides on so easily on the lashline and is quite intense with one layer. The Kat Von D is much more intensely pigmented, but this one is so much smoother. I can easily do a perfect winged liner in less than 15 seconds!
I love this so much I will do a comparison post comparing this and other flat tip brush liquid eyeliners I have. Seriously the best. I am sooooo glad it was on Buy 2 Get 1 Free, I now have three of these!
Verdict: 20/10 no kidding

Haircare

Machere Hair Oil

I’m not gonna lie, I got this because of the cute Parisian packaging. I’ve already had the shampoo and conditioner and they were okay (also got them because of the packaging – lol, I know I have issues) so I thought why not give this leave-in oil treatment cutie pie a try.
Machere Hair Oil

And I’m so happy I did, I actually really really like this hair oil. The smell isn’t too offensive, it’s actually heavenly. As in, lychees and berries heaven. It also detangles super long hair really well (my hair is butt-length FYI).
So, adorable packaging + smooths and detangles hair + amazing, addictive smell…
Verdict: 10/10

Tsubaki Damage Care Hair Mask

This is also a repurchase. I swear by this hair mask. I actually bought five tubs of these because one tub only lasts about 4-5 uses for me. No joke. My hair is that long.
Tsubaki Damage Care Hair Mask
Tsubaki Damage Care Hair Mask
This mask is the only hope I have in keeping my long hair sane. And smooth. And shiny.
I just can’t stop repurchasing this hair mask, and don’t think I ever will. I’ve tried so many hair masks out there but I just keep coming back to this one.
Verdict: 10/10 – can’t live without it!

Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek Flower Harmony

These blushes are so pretty! I already have one Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek blush from their permanent range, but these ones are limited edition (or so they say…) and the swirls are just too adorable!
They come in three shades: Cherry Mix, Strawberry Mix and Mandarin Mix. I only got the Cherry and Strawberry ones because the Mandarin seemed a bit too orange. Not a fan of orange makeup :/
Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek Flower Harmony PK01 Cherry Mix & PK02 Strawberry Mix
Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek Flower Harmony PK01 Cherry Mix (bottom) & PK02 Strawberry Mix (top)
They’re so pretty I haven’t even swatched mine yet, I’ve only swatched them in-store and fell in love with them.
The swirls are said to be a mix of three shades of micro powders. A blood color, which gives a natural blush; a control color which covers the pores and clears skin tone; and glow color which gives a velvet glow. Not sure if they will actually translate that way on to the skin, but I hope it will. I have yet to try these yet so I will review them separately in the near future!

Meishoku Detclear Bright & Peel Fruits Peeling Jelly

This was an impulse buy. I mean, just look at the packaging. HAHAHA. Here I go again with the whole packaging shenanigan.
Anyways, the sales person also told me this is similar to the Cure Natural Aqua Gel exfoliator except this is a bit stronger because it’s got AHA and BHA. So, I thought, why not?
Meishoku Detclear Bright & Peel Fruits Peeling Jelly
Meishoku Detclear Bright & Peel Fruits Peeling Jelly
I’ve tried this about five times already, and I actually quite like it. I can see the brightening effect immediately, but sadly it’s temporary. I hope I can see a more permanent difference with prolonged use of this peeling jelly.
Meishoku Detclear Bright & Peel Fruits Peeling Jelly
Meishoku Detclear Bright & Peel Fruits Peeling Jelly
So you basically apply the jelly on cleansed dry skin and massage the jelly into the skin for about a minute. The jelly will then ball up (see no. 3) and you just easily rinse it off afterwards. The brightening effect is immediately seen, but will only last for about an hour or two, but I just love how refreshing it makes my skin feel!
I will intensely use this peel (once every few days) for the next few months and write up a review on it. I really hope it’ll work to brighten up my complexion and getting rid of some hyperpigmentation.
Verdict: 8/10

Sense of Care Hand Cream

I got this in the “aisle of death” a.k.a. the queueing line a.k.a the place where they sneakily put irresistibly cute goodies so that while you wait, you will have no choice but to grab them. They’re cheap too. Coz they’re mostly in travel sizes.
Urgh, why do I always fall for these?!?!!? I don’t even need them!
Sense of Care Hand Cream in Rose, Sakura, and Olive
Sense of Care Hand Cream in Rose, Sakura, and Olive.
But I gotta say, I don’t regret getting them at all. For only SG$3.50 each before discount (around SG$2.70 after discount and tax refund – that’s less than US$2!) they’re so worth it because they’re so cutely packaged (OMG the cartoons – please, come on!), they’ve got soft matted tubes, the scents are long lasting and SO DARN YUMMY, and the softness it gives is just heavenly.
I actually regretted not getting more of these.
Verdict: 10/10
Phew! That was a lot! Took me two days to write this up because Zayden is getting more and more active each day. LOL.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed that! Will be reviewing some of these separately so, stay tuned!
If you also bought some stuff during the Watsons haul, do let me know & leave a link to your post below! Would love to see your haul!
