September 2014 Beauty Favorites

Hi everyone!

I can’t believe October is finally here! It’s like September just flew by in a blink of an eye!

Big thanks to Amanda of @itsrainingmakeup on Instagram for tagging me to do the September Favorites post!

Makeup Favorites

Benefit Hydra Smooth Lip Color in Juicy Details

AVAILABLE FROM: Amazon (this product has been discontinued)

Currently loving this pigmented and hydrating lippie, especially when topped off with NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige! See below for swatches.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige

AVAILABLE FROM: Amazon (this product has been discontinued)

Beige is a medium, cool-toned pink shade which baffles me coz nothing about the shade is “beige”-ish! :/ Doesn’t matter though, it’s such a pretty color!

As seen in the swatches above, the color is pretty opaque for a gloss. I love that it can be used on its own, but when combined with the Benefit lipstick it becomes so much warmer in tone! I also love that it’s not sticky and that it has a very pleasant scent!

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15

AVAILABLE FROM: Nordstrom, Sephora (US$54)

My usually dry skin is currently super oily due to my fluctuating hormones. Within about 10-15 minutes after I wash my face in the morning, oil would start oozing out of every open pore – it’s so annoying and gross.

Well, this has been my lifesaver!

I’m not sure if this product is marketed as a mattifier, but this has definitely helped control my skin’s oiliness – especially on the T-Zone area! It doesn’t necessarily mattify but it keeps all the excess oils at bay. My skin remains silicone-smooth and grease-free for the whole day it’s amazing!

I rarely use makeup these days and so I’ve just been wearing this on its own as a last step in my morning skincare routine (after SPF). However, even when my skin was dry, this was one of my favorite primers because it makes anything I put on top glide on so easily! It doesn’t accentuate any flakes on the skin too. So I think this product works well for all skin types.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara

AVAILABLE FROM: Sephora, Ulta Beauty (US$23), Sephora Australia (AU$29)

To be honest, as much as I love this mascara, it still hasn’t taken the place of my favorite mascara of all time, the Dior Iconic Overcurl. However, this is such an incredible mascara and it’s much more affordable too! 🙂

This mascara separates, lengthens, and volumizes so well!  It doesn’t curl the lashes as well as the Dior, but when it comes to volumizing, I think it does a better job 🙂

Skincare Favorites

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm Anti-Ageing

AVAILABLE FROM: Amazon (US$60), Look Fantastic (US$52.48/£41)

This is a newbie in my skincare routine, and it’s been getting a lotta love from me!

It does not replace my Evelom since it does not have the 4-in-1 properties the Evelom does, but has its own benefits too. Honestly, the one and only downside to this product when compared to the Evelom is that this does not remove eye makeup as effectively as the Evelom!

Read more about this in my in-depth review.

Hair & Body Care Favorites

Estelle & Thild Pregnancy Body Oil

Hypoallergenic, fragrance free and certified organic. It’s like music to my ears.

Not just that, though. This oil is seriously the best for massaging! Its consistency is very thin and smooth, but does not leave skin super greasy afterwards. It makes massaging so much easier!
Believe me, massage oils will be your best friend when you’re pregnant and you don’t want to use just any massage oils out there. This is truly amazing, don’t know how I’ll survive through all the crazy back pains without this!

It also claims to prevent stretch marks but I personally have never used this for that purpose, so I can’t testify.

Liese Smooth Hair Cocktail

I love rediscovering products I’ve neglected! This has been my hair’s bestie for the past two months.
Got this last year at Watsons Singapore but have been neglecting it because I’ve been using the Not Your Mother’s “Knotty to Nice” Conditioning Detangler, so once I ran out (and can’t repurchase coz it’s not available in Aussie! Urgh!) I was so glad I still had this, coz I ended up liking this more. Not sure why I stopped using it!

Every time I spray this on my hair, it’s like I’m being flown into a garden of peaches and sweet berries – so heavenly! The scent lingers for a while, which I love about it, but it’s not that strong that it’s off-putting.
When I spray this on my tangled hair, I leave it untouched for about 5-10 seconds before brushing it with my Tangle Teezer. It immediately smooths out my hair (and adds shine!) like nobody’s business.

Plus, who can resist the super adorable pink packaging?!?!

Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion Skin Conditioner (Almond Oil)

When I’m very tired and don’t have the energy to apply stretch mark creams after shower (which is 99% of the time), I use this before I walk out of the shower. It’s not as thick as the Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, but for the price, it seriously is amazing. My whole body remains moisturized ’til morning.

I got this for only $3 at my local supermarket when it was on sale and I regret not getting more! Its full price is about $6-7 I think. I don’t think I’ll ever get the Lush one again since it’s so freaking expensive at $32.50 for 225ml, while this is just $6 for 400ml! WHAAAAT! #@$^%&!!

iPhone 5S Case from Mimi Petit on Etsy

Just look at how adorable that is! Such eye candy!!! Rainbows, ponies, sweets, bows and unicorns make MY LIFE. I highly recommend Mimi Petit on Etsy, she makes custom orders and she’s super duper nice and helpful!

Sanrio “Pop Up Type – Aburatorigami” Blotting Papers

I wasn’t sure if this should be included under skincare or makeup, so I thought I’d just put it under Random 🙂 As I mentioned before, my skin is a hot-oily-mess these days, so blotting papers/sheets have been very helpful!

My friend got these for me all the way from Hong Kong! I love these ones because they papers are actually printed!! I’m loving my My Melody one so much, wish I wasn’t too lazy to take it out of my bag to take pictures of it.

Let me know what your September favorites were! Wishing you all a lovely October! Christmas is almost here WOOHOO! LOL. Random. Sorry. Bye.
