My Skincare Routine for Congestions and Clogged Pores: Elucent Skincare Review

I’m so excited I can finally share about some products from my skincare routine for congestions and clogged pores!

I started weaning my son from breastfeeding shortly before he turned one in September, and boy did my skin hate me for that! I thought pregnancy acne was bad, but no one ever told me weaning acne would be far worse! To top it all off, seasonal changes was also a culprit. I had at least two new cystic acne appearing every week and my pores congested with tiny, skin-colored bumps with new ones appearing every day.

I started on the La Roche Posay Effaclar System Kit, as I mentioned in my latest Empties: Buy Or Bye? post and it tremendously helped clear up my cystic acne, but it stopped there. After all my cystic acne disappeared, I was left with tons of red spots and discoloration, and my pores were still very much congested – all throughout my T-Zone and jawline.

About 2-3 weeks ago I started using some products from the Elucent Anti Ageing range, and I was so shocked to see the results. I can’t believe the vast improvement I’ve been seeing on my skin.

Check out my before-and-after photos and reviews of the products below. I will share my whole my skincare routine for congestions and clogged pores soon!

RESULTS

Let’s start with the results.

I regret not taking a “before” photo before I started this range. I honestly gave up on my skin that I thought this skincare range wouldn’t make much of a difference, but one week in, the redness and congestion around my cheek and jaw have significantly decreased (see below):

As you can see there are still a lot of redness, discoloration and congestions, but this is so much better than the week before!

The photos on the right are what my skin looks like now, approximately two weeks after first use.

The redness is almost completely gone and most importantly, the congestions are too. The discolorations are still there, of course, that would take months to fade, but I can’t believe how smooth my skin feels every time I wash my face. I used to feel tiny little bumps every time I massage my face, but now I only feel about 2-3 little bumps, which is a significant improvement from what it was before. If I continue to use this, I’m sure my skin will be back to normal!

Now, on to the products I used.

ELUCENT ANTI AGEING GENTLE CLEANSER

AVAILBLE FROM: Chemist Warehouse (A$29.99), My Chemist (A$20.99)

This cleanser contains 145ml of product and has a thin, gel consistency with a milky, translucent color. However, it has tiny little iridescent sparkles in it and I was a bit skeptical about this because I’ve never seen a sparkly cleanser before, and I was afraid it would clog my pores even more, but I guess I had nothing to worry about since this cleanser did nothing but improve my skin’s texture and tone.

Elucent’s Gentle Cleanser with 2% AHA has been carefully formulated with a blend of cleansers and moisturisers to refresh the skin without causing dryness. The combination of AHAs and vitamins B3 and E work together to gently exfoliate and visibly revitalise the skin. Ingredients in the formula work to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and improve skin texture and tone.

It cleanses so effectively but also very nourishing and gentle, so my skin never feels tight or dry after I towel-dry my skin, even during the winter. (It’s currently freezing where I live!)

I use this twice a day.

ELUCENT ANTI AGEING DAY MOISTURISER SPF 50+

AVAILABLE FROM: My Chemist (A$36.99), Chemist Warehouse (A$49.99)

As I mentioned in my Empties: Buy or Bye? post, I’ve just been using a day cream with SPF 50 with a lot more skincare benefits than the one I was using, and this is it. Aside from having SPF 50 in it, this day moisturiser contains amazing active ingredients too.

[This] is a triple action moisturiser formulated to help minimise the signs of ageing. It helps reduce wrinkles, keep skin hydrated and improve skin texture and tone. It prevents premature skin ageing with SPF 50+ protection. It is formulated with 2% glycolic acid and 2% lactic acid to rejuvenate the skin, and vitamin E and B3 to help increase skin elasticity.

This all-in-one day moisturiser contains 95 ml of product and has a thin, lightweight lotion consistency that makes the skin feel so hydrated and supple after use, but it doesn’t feel sticky and doesn’t clog the pores – if anything, it actually helps unclog the pores, so it is definitely non-comedogenic.

I can testify that this absolutely helped improve my skin texture and tone, but I don’t have wrinkles and fine lines so I can’t say whether it does that.

I’ve also been wearing this under makeup and my foundation sits well on top of this, although I would need to give it some time to be fully absorbed into the skin before applying foundation. I usually wait for about 3-5 minutes before putting foundation on and it acts as a nice primer. This suitable for all skin types.

Oh, and I adore the scent! It’s not overwhelming and definitely does not contain fragrance, but it just smells very nice and pleasant. I hate moisturisers that smell like herbs or some kind of medicine.

ELUCENT ANTI AGEING NIGHT MOISTURISER

AVAILABLE FROM: My Chemist (A$36.99), Chemist Warehouse (A$49.99)

Now, on to my favorite product from the range.

One of the main reasons why my pores kept getting clogged is dehydration, which led to over-production of oils that ended up clogging my pores. So I’ve been looking for a moisturiser that moisturises the skin well enough without clogging the pores, because most heavy, creamy moisturisers tend to clog pores.

I’m glad I found this all-encompassing moisturiser that not only moisturises the skin really well, but eliminated my clogged pores and brightened up my whole complexion. I always wake up in the morning with new bumps here and there, but ever since I used this at night, those bumps have significantly decreased and my overall complexion looks so much brighter.

With 8% AHA, [this] moisturiser helps reduce visible signs of ageing and improve skin tone and firmness. The formula contains vitamins B3, C and E. The formula also works to gently rehydrate and replenish moisture while you sleep. This formula will help you achieve younger, healthy looking skin.

One thing I don’t like about this is that it comes in a jar. I prefer skincare products that come in tubes and bottles as they’re so much more hygienic. So I recently filled up an empty travel tube with this moisturiser and since the texture is more lotion-like than creamy, it dispenses out of the tube really easily.

I love that this feels very lightweight on the skin, and it has a similar scent to the day moisturiser, which I love. This is also definitely non-comedogenic, and suitable for all skin types.

ELUCENT WHITENING SPOT CORRECTOR

AVAILABLE FROM: My Chemist (A$36.99), Chemist Warehouse (A$49.99)

After my cystic acne cleared up, I was left with dark spots and hyperpigmentation, which are a nightmare to treat. They don’t fade away easily and most whitening products I’ve tried ended up clogging my pores.

Now, this is one of those products that must be used over a long period of time  in order for us to see a difference. I haven’t noticed any results with this, but at least it never clogged my pores and didn’t cause any further breakouts or congestions, so I will continue to use this in hopes that my spots and hyperpigmentation will eventually  fade away.

[This]  is a concentrated skin brightening lotion that targets confined areas of discoloration and dark spots. The brightening range contains phyllanthus emblica fruit extractto maintain and brighten skin tone, vitamin C to reduce discoloration, vitamin E to improve skin barrier function and increase skin elasticity, safflower seed oil to brighten skin, increase cell turnover and moisturise, and vitamin B3 to restore an even complexion.

This product comes in a squeeze-tube and contains 30 g of product, but it should last over a year as it is a spot treatment and should only be used on certain areas with discoloration and hyperpigmentation. The texture is a lightweight lotion with a rather thin, almost-runny consistency. It spreads across the skin really nicely and doesn’t ball up when other products are layered on top of it.

It sure sounds promising and I will write an update should this product bring any impeccable results!

FINAL VERDICT

Although this is a sponsored post, I need you to know that I’ve been offered to post sponsored posts on skincare products several times already, but I always end up declining the offers when products don’t work for me. This time, I’m so glad I have finally found a solution for my skin’s problems. This skincare range is the answer to my prayers, no wonder it has stellar reviews all over the web.

I can’t testify whether this will reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and whether the spot corrector reduces discoloration, but these did tackle my skin’s issues with congestions and clogged pores. My skin is so much healthier, acne free, and smoother.

Stay tuned for my whole skincare routine for congestions and clogged pores post soon!
