ipsy Glam Bag December 2017 Review

ipsy December 2017

Another month, another exciting bunch of stuff to try from my ipsy GlamBag! Here’s my ipsy GlamBag December 2017 review for you guys!

ipsy GLAMBAG DECEMBER 2017 REVIEW

To complement the month’s “Snow Globe” theme, this month’s bag is a beautiful icy, mint blue with “a coat of silver, and a touch of sparkle” inspired by frosty days and twinkling nights.

Now, on to the review, I managed to use all of the makeup products in the photo below, and I gotta say, I’m pretty pleased with the results!

SMASHBOX COSMETICS ALWAYS ON GEL LINER IN FISHNET

AVAILABLE FROM: Nordstrom, SephoraSmashboxUlta ($18)

This is my favorite product from the bunch! This applies like a dream, and doesn’t smudge or smear during the day. It does disappear from the waterline after a couple of hours, but it managed to stay put on the lashline the whole day.

It was a bit tricky to remove since it is suuuuper waterproof, but as long as you’ve got an oil-based makeup remover, you’ll do just fine.

COSMOHOLIC LIQUID LIPSTICK IN MYSTERIOUS MOCHA

AVAILABLE FROM: Amazon ($10.50), Cosmoholic ($24.99)

This product confused me at first as there were no labels on it and there were no information about this in the bag. So when I first applied it I thought it was more of a lip lacquer or opaque lip gloss. It has a thick, goopy feel to it but it’s not that tacky or annoying to wear. I just don’t know why this is called a liquid lipstick, it certainly doesn’t look like it.

It’s very hydrating and the color is a reddish brown that would look great on so many skin tones. They claim to have a chocolatey scent but I honestly didn’t notice it. I personally wouldn’t purchase this in full size.

SLMISSGLAM L36 TAPERED HIGHLIGHTER BRUSH

AVAILABLE FROM: SLMISSGLAM

SLMissGlam brushes are beautiful, they’re “inspired by fairytales, unicorns, and mermaids”, and I was excited to receive this as I love tapered highlighter brushes as they work well to set the under eye area with powder. However, I find that because this brush is synthetic, powder products don’t really cling on to it well. They fly around everywhere and don’t really apply much product on the skin. This would seem better for applying cream based products.

In the photo above I applied my Champagne Pop highlighter using this brush and it went on pretty well, but I couldn’t use it to apply loose setting powder in my under eye area.

This fluffy, synthetic bristled beauty is 100% cruelty-free.

GLAMOUR DOLLS x LISA FRANK EYESHADOW IN HEARTTHROB

AVAILABLE FROM: Glamour Dolls ($6.99)

I love Lisa Frank, but I’ve received this in my last ipsy bag and I didn’t end up liking the product, so I wasn’t too excited for this. Plus, the Lisa Frank-esque packaging is only on the box, not on the actual product packaging which is a huge bummer for me.

However, the eyeshadow itself is pretty nice. Heartthrob is a warm, matte brown. Cocoa smoky eyes, anyone? I used this color all over the lids with nothing else but eyeliner on the lashline, and it gave the eyes a nice pop of color.

Will I repurchase? Don’t think so, I’ve got shades like this in other palettes. I would if the Lisa Frank packaging was more “Lisa Frank” than… whatever this is.

PURLISSE BEAUTY SHEET MASKS

AVAILABLE FROM: Anthropologie ($36 for pack of 6), Purlisse ($8; $36 for pack of 6)

This month we received two sheet masks from Purlisse. I have never heard of the brand before, but the masks look promising. I received the Coconut + Rice Nourishing Sheet Mask and Green Tea + Ginger Treatment Sheet Mask, and they seem to be jam packed with nourishing ingredients and claim to detoxify and rejuvenate skin.

I haven’t used this yet as I’m saving this up for later use. I can’t wait to wear this during a hot bath in my ski lodge!

FINAL VERDICT

So, all in all, I wasn’t too blown away by the bag. The liquid lipstick, brush and eyeshadow underperformed, and the only thing that was great was the eyeliner. I haven’t tried the sheet masks so I can’t judge.

What do you think of this month’s Glam Bag?
