Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel Tint Review

Do you have sparse brows and just wish you could have Lucy Hale/Cara Delevigne brows that you don’t have to fill in on a daily basis? Well, I share your struggle!

My brows have always been so sparse, not necessarily thin-shaped though, just sparse with a lot of bald spots. Until I had microblading done on my brows three years ago, and they haven’t completely faded yet which is crazy! I’m planning on getting another one soon but it’s just too expensive for me at the moment, so this is why I am completely in love with this product.

The Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel Tint is a “peel-off gel-tint that leaves brows perfectly defined and evenly filled for up to 3 days.” It’s so easy to use, I’ll show you pics in my review below.

SHADES

These come in four shades: light, medium, dark and grey brown. The shade that I use is grey brown, and it looks perfect. Dark Brown is slightly redder in tone.

APPLICATION

Application is easy, simply draw your brows in with the gel and make sure the shape is perfect. It’ll be difficult to fix the shape once the product has dried up and tinted your skin.

After at least 20 minutes, start peeling the gel off. I like starting from the center, pulling outwards, as it goes with the natural direction of my brow hairs.

RESULTS

I completely forgot to snap a photo of my bare brows! But trust me, they’re so sparse and almost non existent.

In the photo above I left it on for about 20-25 minutes and it looks pretty intense and smooth, and it lasted for about 2 days.

I didn’t put enough product on the ends, which was a mistake that I’ve learned from! From then on I always make sure I apply a thicker amount on the ends. The ends look a bit reddish because it was a residue from the microblading I had three years ago, I don’t know why it’s still there LOL.

Nowadays I leave the gel on for about 2-3 hours, and when I peel them off they’re so much more intense and they’ve actually lasted for up to 5 days, which is crazy. I think the reason it could last that long on me is because:

  1. I have normal skin, sometimes dry. Tints last longer on skin with less amount of oil on the surface.
  2. I don’t remove makeup with oil based removers, and am very careful when cleansing the face to avoid the brow area. I only slightly wipe it and make sure I don’t touch the skin around the brows too much.

FINAL VERDICT

All in all, I love this product because every time I have this on I could get away with just brow gel (I swear by Glossier Boy Brows), which is why I don’t even have to remove much makeup from around the brow area.

Have you ever tried these? I’ve heard mixed reviews but most of the bad reviews are from people with fair skin and blond hair, which makes me think maybe these would be better for people with darker brow hairs.

Let me know what you think!
