Rimmel Oh My Gloss Review & Swatches

I’m a bit late to the game, but better late than never right? I’ve had these for months and I think I’ve found my new favorite drugstore lipgloss line. I featured these in my Current Drugstore Makeup Favorites post!

Rimmel claims that “Oh My Gloss!” lipglosses marries Rimmel’s “Gloss Lock” technology with Argan Oil and Vitamin E, being able to deliver up to 6 hours of vibrant colour, shine and comfort. These lipglosses are part of Rimmel’s collaboration with Rita Ora and originally came in a total of 8 shades. They now have 18 shades!

Check out my Rimmel Oh My Gloss! review below!

Update: I now have a total of six shades! Check out my updated arm swatches below.

Shades

I have three shades, and here are the swatches under direct sunlight:

Update: Scroll down for updated arm swatch of all six shades that I have!

Love Bug, a shimmery, almost-transparent nude shade, works wonderfully on top of any lip color! There are tons of glitter in there, but I actually really like it! I love applying this just on the center of the lips for a little “pop” of shine and shimmer.

Ooh La La, a bright red with cool undertones, is gorgeous on top of red lipstick, or even when worn alone just as a bright wash of color. It’s not completely opaque because, well, it’s not a liquid lipstick – it’s a lipgloss. Still quite opaque for a lipgloss though!

Pin Up is very similar to Ooh La La, just much pinker. It’s a reddish pink with slight fuschia tones to it. This has got to be my favorite shade and the one I’ve been wearing the most, I even bring this along when I travel. Check out my travel makeup bag contents here!

Pin Up is also slightly more pigmented and opaque than Ooh La La. As you can see on the lip swatch, the pigments settle into the fine lines on my lips, which is why I prefer this as a gloss on top of lipstick.

Here’s the updated arm swatch featuring three additional shades I purchased:

Rimmel Oh My Gloss Swatches (1)

Purrr… Glossy Cat is a nude rosy-pink with silver sparkles and shimmer. It’s probably the most shimmery one out of the bunch, but it’s very lovely on the lips – especially when applied just on the centre of the lips for a pop of shine.

Glossaholic is a warm-undertoned baby pink and is my favorite! It works so well on top of any lip color! This is the most versatile color and the one I’d recommend if you’re only planning to buy one shade out of the whole range.

Snog is a light brick-red shade with microshimmers. Looks lovely on top of MLBB and rosy shades!

Here’s a closeup of the shimmery shades:

How gorgeous are those shimmers!

Formula

The texture of these are very lightweight and I love how they don’t feel tacky or sticky at all. They just feel plump and comfortable to wear. Honestly, these are probably one of the most comfortable lipglosses to wear that I have in my whole collection – and I have tons of lipglosses ranging from affordable NYX ones and crazy expensive Chantecaille, Tom Ford and Chanel ones. I’m so impressed.

Oh, and I love that even in the wind, my hairs don’t actually stick to the gloss!! That’s a major plus point for me! *Melbourne girl problems* SMH.

These also never left my lips dry and chapped after it’s faded, which most lipglosses do.

Longevity

As for longevity, these lasted for about 2 hours (3 hours without food and drinks) before turning into a wash of stain, which is pretty good considering most lipglosses would only last about an hour on me.

Packaging

The packaging and applicator are, IMO, one of the best features of this lipgloss.

The packaging is very sleek and modern!

It has a flat, tapered doe-foot applicator. I love that it’s tapered – thicker at the bottom and thinner at the top. The flatness makes it easy to apply the gloss all over the lips, and the tapered top makes it easier to create precise application around hard-to-reach areas and around the lip line.

Oh and we haven’t talked about the scent, have we? These have a sweet, argan oil scent – I love how mild-but-still-noticable it is! I hate (and hate is a strong word, I know) lipglosses that have strong, chemical scents like NARS and MAC lipglosses – these are so nice to sniff!

Price

These are currently US$5.50 on ASOS, originally US$10. They ship internationally.

In Australia, they are AU$13.95 at Priceline (currently “Buy 3 for 2”!) and other selected pharmacies and department stores.

Final Verdict

For the price, being a fraction of high end chemical-smelling lipglosses, I truly recommend these. I love how the applicator makes application a breeze, and how pigmented, long-lasting, and comfortable-to-wear (and non sticky) these are.

Another full-mark from me! Wow, we’re on a roll! Keep ’em great products comin’!
