Spring Loose Curls: Maternity Photoshoot Feat. GHD Curve Creative Curl Wand

I had a “mandatory” maternity photoshoot done a while back, and I’m thrilled that I can finally share the outcome with you!

Since I’m carrying a Spring baby, we had a light, airy, Spring theme. I chose warm colors for my makeup (products used listed in the post below) and I styled my hair in loose, effortless beach waves with a Spring-y flower crown using the ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand.

Check out the breakdown of the products I used for my hair and makeup, and also a step-by-step on how I did my hair (with a ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand review too!).

I basically opted for warm, neutral colors that I know would complement the warmth of the Spring and Summer seasons well!

ghd Curve Creative Curl Wand Review & Demo

Wands are perfect for achieving both curls and waves, including the currently-trending lob (long bob) waves!

I find that clamp curlers can only give us tight, glamorous curls. While they are beautiful, I find that I often prefer having loose, effortless, long waves rather than tight curls especially in Spring and Summer!

To complement my waves, I used the Fudge Iced Coconut Cocktail Hairspray to hold the curls and the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray on my roots for added volume and texture.

The shape of the GHD Curve Creative Curl Wand’s barrel is tapered with 1” round to a 0.9” oval dimensions – making it perfect for “creating everything from relaxed beachy waves to fashion-forward curls or loose waves with amped up volume and texture that lasts from day to evening”.

Technology

The wand heats up in 20 seconds, and its advanced ceramic coating gives snag-free curling and shinier-looking results!

It also has universal voltage (can be used anywhere in the world!) and has an automatic shut-off function that shuts the tool off after 30 minutes of non-use. If you’re often forgetful about turning off your hair tools – this is a feature you need!

The wand also has a professional swivel cord – the fact that it swivels around make it so easy to use on both sides of your hair.

What’s In The Box?

When you purchase this wand, along with the wand itself you’ll get a gorgeous, heat proof bag (which also serves as a heat proof table topper for you to put your wand on), a heat protect glove, an instruction manual and a two-year warranty!

Results

To get tight curls with this wand, make sure you curl small sections of hair at a time. The less you curl at once, the tighter it will be. To achieve my desired loose curls, I simply curled much larger sections of the hair, scrunch it up once finished and spray it with hairspray.

Note: I will be posting a pictorial on this soon after delivery – I’m currently in labor! 🙂 Yes, as in contracting every 5-10 minutes labor!

I had to lay down on a fluffy rug for one of the first shots without the flower crown (we did the flower crown shots towards the end of the shoot) and it messed up the curls a bit, but they so-easily got back in shape with only a few strokes of my fingers!

I love how the wand’s ceramic coating didn’t damage my hair by “frying” it and making it coarse-to-the-touch, my hair was still so soft and manageable!

I curled the hair away from my face because that’s how I always preferred my curls to be. So I simply curled them back in place with my fingers once I was done with the shots.

The only downside to this product is that the barrel is pretty short. I have long butt-length hair and so it was a bit tricky for me to fit the entire length, which leaves me no choice but to overlap the hair a bit. It still works well though, the curls still end up looking perfect!

Here are some more photos from the photoshoot:

All in all, I’m very happy with this curling wand and all I have to say is, once you go wand you never go clamp.
