Covergirl TruBlend Blush Review

Hey! I’m so glad to be back! My two-month vacation is finally over and now it’s time to get back to work.

I recently encountered these in drugstores – it’s actually in drugstores everywhere in the States now. These are the newly formulated Covergirl TruBlend blushes for Spring 2016 (and a bronzer too!). I’ve never tried the original TruBlend blushes so I can’t compare them, but I do know that the old ones were “mineral” blushes, and these ones don’t seem to be at all.

The unique thing about these blushes is that they’re meant to enhance people’s different skintones, which is why they have three shades of blushes for three different skintones.

Check out my CoverGirl TruBlend Blush review (including the bronzer shade) below!

Shades

There are three blush shades in the range and they all have a lovely ever-so-slightly-shimmery finish that gives the skin a nice, soft sheen and glow:

  • Light Rose, a light peachy pink, for light skin tones
  • Medium Rose, a deeper dusty rose, for medium skin tones
  • Deep Mauve, a plum reddish mauve, for deep/dark skin tones

Then there’s only one bronzer shade which, I assume, should be suitable for all skin tones. This bronzer reminds me of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzers – they’re not meant for contouring, just for a splash of warmth and glow to the skin. This is the least wearable one for me as it goes on a bit too yellow/orange on my skin, but it does have a lovely sheen to it.

Here are the swatches:

My favorite is definitely 200 Medium Rose because it’s the perfect shade for my light-medium skintone. Light Rose is meant for those with really pale skin as it looks more like a highlight on my skin. So if you’re very pale and are always struggling to find a blush that’s not too dark, definitely give this a try.

Deep Mauve is also gorgeous on my skin as long as I apply it with a fluffier blush, and with a very light hand. People with darker skintones will love this!

Longevity

Longevity didn’t blow me out of the water, just like most blushes they have an average of 5-6 hours of weartime. However, I do like layering them with a cream blush! They last so much longer on top of long wearing cream blushes.

Packaging

The packaging is so much more attractive than the old ones. LOL.

Just look at how sleek and gorgeous they look.

I like how the packaging of the blushes are marked with “L”, “M”, and “D” to mark which shades are suited for which skin tones.

The blushes on the pan are dome-shaped and their marbled finish make it seem like they’re baked, although I’m not entirely sure if they are in fact baked since the packaging and description says nothing about it being baked. They are actually such close dupes to the Milani Baked Blushes!

Price

These retail for US$9.99 before tax in most stores, and I actually got them at Ulta during their “Buy 1 Get 2nd 50% Off” Covergirl event.

Final Verdict

I’m honestly not sure how I feel about the bronzer, but I highly recommend the blushes, especially the one specific for your skintone!
