Disappointing Products: Why I Returned These to Sephora

I’ve never done a post like this before, but I think it’s quite useful to know not just the things I do like, but also the things that didn’t work for me, which is why I’ve decided to show you why I decided to return these things despite the hype around them on social media.

HOURGLASS CONFESSION ULTRA SLIM HIGH INTENSITY REFILLABLE LIPSTICK

AVAILABLE FROM: Sephora ($34)

I really, really wanted to love this lipstick. The packaging is stunning, and the color I picked out, I’m Addicted, described as a terracota rose, is so gorgeous! Sadly, I decided to return this anyway.

Firstly, the packaging, although elegant and beautiful, is very impractical for me to carry in my purse/diaper bag. It’s very long and pointy, and slips out easily. I wish they were shorter and more practical to carry.

Secondly, although the formula is very creamy, it’s not the type of “creamy” texture that feels comfortable on my lips. I don’t know why I find it to be too rich and thick, and the feeling doesn’t fade over time. There’s just this sort of thick feeling on the lips that will not go away.

TOO FACED PEACH BLUR REVIEW

AVAILABLE FROM: Sephora ($30)

This product was a bit confusing for me, but I still purchased it anyway because I thought it might work as sort of a highlighter/diffuser like the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders.

The only good things about this are the packaging (how cute is the peach embossing!) and the scent. The product itself is so weird – it’s not a setting powder, nor it is a highlighter. It’s meant to blur pores, but all it does is add a peach tint to the skin.

I applied this on my undereye area to set my concealer only to find that area of my face looking much peachier than the rest. I tried this so many ways, so many times, but I just can’t get it to work.

Fortunately though, everything else I purchased from the Too Faced Sweet Peach line has been fantastic!

DRUNK ELEPHANT T.L.C SUKARI BABYFACIAL MINI

AVAILABLE FROM: Sephora ($25-$80)

The main reason I returned this is because of the packaging – the pump doesn’t work! I’ve purchased this twice, and returned them both times, only because the pump doesn’t work, which is so frustrating because I think I actually like the product.

To use the product I had to twist open the cap and use a cotton tip to scoop out the products, but because the opening is really small I had a hard time trying to get a lot of the product out. I gave up and returned them.

I’ve only tried this twice and both times I think my skin quite liked it. I didn’t see results overnight so I need to try it a few more times to really see if I like it. So I’m in no rush to get another one but I will definitely purchase it in the upcoming VIB sale. Hopefully the pump will work this time!
