Jouer Long Wear Lip Creme Review

Jouer Lip Creme Noisette, Melon, Creme Brulee, Terra, Dulce de Leche, Buff, Papaye, Skinny Dip, Winter Rose, Cranberry, Clove Swatches

Earlier this month Jouer released their Jouer Best of Nudes Mini Set and Jouer Long Wear Lip Creme Trio as part of their Holiday 2016 collection, but they were quickly sold out! I think they’re currently only available through Birchbox as they seem to be sold out everywhere else.

These sets are limited edition and might not be restocked in a long while,  but the shades in the Best of Nudes set are part of their permanent line and are all sold individually, so check out my Jouer Long Wear Lip Creme review below!

JOUER BEST OF NUDES MINI SET

The Jouer Best of Nudes Mini Gift Set retails for US$36 (US$95 value) and includes 7 mini sizes of their best-selling nude Long Wear Lip Cremes and a highly popular Lip Topper in Skinny Dip. This set is perfect for people who have never tried Jouer’s lip cremes before, it serves as an introduction!

I like how the set features nudes of a variety of undertones so that it would suit a wide range of skintones. My personal favorite shades are Melon, Terra and Papaye. And of course Skinny Dip as it can “bling” up any lip look!

I wore Skinny Dip on top of Terra in the image below, and it is my current favorite lip combination!

Please excuse my red, wrinkly scar in the center of the upper lip – those are stitches from my recent lip tumor surgery and it’s gonna take a while for them to heal 🙂

I really like the formula of these lip cremes, they glide on the lips very smoothly and evenly, with the exception of the lightest colors: Creme Brulee and Buff. I honestly had a hard time trying to smooth out the lines when applying these two colors, but the rest were amazing. They’re all very creamy and opaque with just one light layer and lasts a loooong time.

I tried removing my arm swatches with Bioderma but failed miserably. Then I tried using oil-based makeup remover wipes – still failed. See below.

I ended up having to remove the swatches using my Dermalogica Precleanse cleansing oil – even then I had to massage the oil in for about 30-45 seconds to make sure every bit of pigment is removed.

All in all I am very impressed with the Jouer lip cremes, they’re some of the best liquid lipsticks I’ve ever tried! This set was worh every penny!

JOUER LONG WEAR LIP CREME TRIO

The Jouer Long Wear Lip Creme Liquid Lipstick Trio retails for US$34 (US$54 value) and contains three full-size limited edition Long Wear Lip Cremes. The set contains one matte and two metallic shades.

Winter Rose is very, very similar to Dulce de Leche, just slightly darker. Cranberry is a stunning, metallic pinky red. Clove is a dark, reddish brown.

The formula of the two metallics are very thick and creamy, unlike the shade Papaye, which is a permanent color. Papaye has a much thinner consistency. They feel very moisturizing on the lips.

Both Cranberry and Clove are completely opaque when applied and leave a stain on the lips (and skin) that is so hard to remove! I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but I personally like that it leaves a completely budge-proof stain.

I’ve recently just reviewed the Colourpop x Hello Kitty collection and I noticed that Cranberry bears an uncanny resemblance to the Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lip in Surprise! Check out the side-by-side comparison below:

The difference is that the Colourpop Surprise is a bit thinner in texture and consistency and it isn’t as opaque and creamy-thick as the Jouer Cranberry when applied. The Colourpop also has tiny micro glitters while the Jouer Cranberry doesn’t. I personally much prefer the formula of the Jouer.

Have you ever tried any of Jouer’s lip cremes? What are your thoughts? I personally think the darker colors are worth every penny, I would definitely repurchase and would recommend them to others!
