The beauty world went crazy went Kat (Kat Von D) and Jerrod (Too Faced) announced they were joining forces and coming out with a collection as both of their brands are very popular and well loved. So I was very excited to be able to grab the palette on the day it was released last month.
After a whole month of playing around with these palettes, I’m ready to finally share my thoughts on them.
Check out my Too Faced x Kat Von D Better together palette review below.
Packaging
The packaging of these palettes (or this palette?) is inspired by a BFF heart necklace where each person keep one side of the heart necklace. This is to reflect Kat and Jerrod’s friendship, which I think is super adorable!
So there are actually two palettes: a Too Faced one on the left, and a Kat Von D on the right. Kat and Jerrod each created six colors for their respective palettes.
They both open up to a full heart shape with a message written on the flap from them.
It has a magnetic center panel so when both palettes are closed and are in close proximity, they snap back together.
Too Faced Palette
What I immediately noticed about Jerrod’s palette is that the colors are much more feminine and warm.
Jerrod’s side also comes with a full sized Better Than Sex mascara – my holy grail mascara!
Colors in this palette are are:
BFF: Matte creamy white with soft specks of gold glitter. This shade seems pasty at first, but actually makes a great base and brow highlight. It somehow has a soft sheen to it.
Lovely: Matte pastel baby pink. I rarely wear this color and honestly wish he had chosen another color instead of this. It’s way too powdery and doesn’t shown up well on the skin.
Friendspiration: Metallic bronze gold. My absolute favorite color and formula. It’s so creamy, intensely pigmented, and blends like a dream.
Heart of Gold: Metallic navy green. Another favorite of mine. The formula is as creamy and smooth as Friendspiration.
Power Couple: Warm brown with gold glitter. The brown pigments aren’t intense and they swatch a bit patchily, but I had no problems with it when I blended it out in my outercorners. The gold glitters weren’t too obvious too.
Better Together: Satin dark plum. This color is gorgeous! I love wearing this on its own or as a crease contour.
All these shadows lasted for a minimum of 8 hours with primer, except for BFF and Lovely which faded at about the 4-5th hour mark. Here are the swatches.
How gorgeous are they!
Kat Von D Palette
Kat’s side isn’t necessarily cooler toned but it certainly has a darker feel to it. I am obsessed with the colors Darling and Swoon.
Kat’s side comes with a full size Tattoo Liner in Trooper, also my holy grail!
Shades in this palette are:
Yours: Matte dark grey. Kat’s mattes are somehow creamier and easier to blend. This shade is an absolute bliss to blend out – I am obsessed with the formula and the color!
Darling: Metallic pewter silver. Stunning color, super smooth and creamy formula, incredible color payoff and is completely opaque at first swatch. Seriously, this is perfection.
Por Vida: Matte white. I rarely use this shade as it’s too pale for my liking, but the formula is just as creamy and smooth as the other mattes in Kat’s palette.
Devotion: Matte jet black. Intense color, amazing formula despite some fallouts, but blends so easily on the outer corners. Love this.
Swoon: Satin/metallic scarlet red. Surprisingly the color I’ve been using the most! This shade has the best formula and texture, it’s so soft and intensely pigmented. I can’t rave about this shade enough.
Lovestruck: Shimmery, iridescent light peach. Very subtle and soft, but makes a beautiful inner corner highlight.
These colors also lasted for a minimum of 8 hours with primer.
Final Verdict
What I love about these palettes is that they complement each other really well. They can be worn on their own, but can also be worn together. But they are better together. I love wearing Swoon all over the lids with Friendspiration on the center, with a mix of Power Couple and Devotion in the outer corners!
I can’t recommend this palette enough. Double thumbs up!
