February 2016 Skincare Favorites

Since my last favorites post was all about makeup, this favorites post is dedicated to all things skincare! I also sneaked in one nail polish 😉

My skin has been so hormonal lately and I’ve been battling with lots of skin-colored bumps and pore congestions. These products have really helped my skin!

Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque

This, hands down, beats every other charcoal detoxifying masks I’ve ever tried, including the ever-so-popular Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment, which used to be my favorite.

Activated binchotan charcoal powerfully adsorbs impurities while 5% sulfur promotes cell turnover for dramatically brighter skin. Volcanic ash, sea silt, bamboo extract and alpha hydroxy acids further accelerate skin brightening with dual-action exfoliation. Niacinamide helps reduce congestion and calm the skin while Chilean wild mint helps refine pores.

This has the detoxifying properties of charcoal or mud masks in general, but it also has tiny grains that when washed off, works as an exfoliator for the skin. I love washing this off because the grains are very effective at removing some of the bumps/congestions on the skin without being too abrasive. It’s a detoxifying mask and exfoliator in one!

In Australia, this retails for AU$65 at Skincare Store, but they’re currently having a 25% discount for all Dermalogica products! In the US, you can find this at Ulta Beauty for US$46.

Glossier Priming Moisturizer

This product is such a game changer – it’s the lightest-in-texture, yet most moisturizing base I’ve ever tried.

I never knew something so thin and light can be so moisturizing and hydrating on the skin! My skin used to feel so tight and dehydrated underneath foundation because of Australia’s crazy extended Summer, but this makes my skin feel so comfortable, oil-free and smooth all day, and also makes any foundation last so much longer!

This retails for US$25 and is currently only availble on the Glossier website.

Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder

I use this exfoliator on days when I’m not using the Dermalogica Charcoal Mask.

After cleansing my face, I apply the powder on to my face while my skin is still wet and it will turn into a creamy consistency. I can feel the tiny grains rubbing on the skin, but it’s very, very soft and gentle so it doesn’t dry out my skin. After I rinse it off and pat my skin dry, my skin always feels so baby-butt smooth and looks 100x brighter!

The dispenser is so cute! You slide a tab open and there’s a hole where the product will be dispensed from. This makes dispensing the product so easy and hygienic!

This retails for US$65 on the Tatcha website, and they ship internationally. In the US, this retails for US$65 at Sephora.

Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream

I haven’t worn eye creams in a while because most of them do nothing for my undereyes. This was the best one I’ve tried lately, it smooths out some of the fine lines and really hydrates the area without making it feel tacky or sticky. It smells nice too!

In the US, this retails for US$41 at Sephora. I’m not sure where this can be purchased in Australia, but StrawberryNet Australia has a wide range of Fresh products although this particular item is currently unavailable. Keep an eye out though, they might have it soon!

Milani Moisture Rose Hip Oil Infused Lip Treatment

This is one lip product I can’t sleep without lately. I put this on at night before I sleep and I wake up with plumper, softer lips.

The wand is a bit too big though. It’s so unnecessarily huge that the tube becomes half empty when you take the wand out! However, the product itself is lovely – and affordable. So I’m not gonna complain.

I purchased mine at a CVS store, but these are also available at Drugstore.com, Walgreens and Kmart for US$7.99.

O.P.I Worth A Pretty Penne

I mentioned in my last post (“What’s In My Makeup Bag?“) that I’m so into copper/rose gold tones lately, and this shade from the O.P.I Venice Collection has been my staple nail look over the past month!

It’s unbelievably opaque and is a gorgeous shimmery copper shade, perfect for any occasion!
