PONi Cosmetics Review: Hit or Miss?

PONi Cosmetics Review

Brows, brows, brows! That’s the one thing the beauty community just can’t seem to get enough of these days.

PONi Cosmetics is a new Australian cosmetics company that focuses on brow products. Check out my review of some of their products below!

PONi Cosmetics Brow Magic Brow Pencil (A$29)

This was featured in my April Favorites post here. The size of the pencil is very tiny, much like the highly coveted Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, NYX Brow Pencil and Kevyn Aucoin Brow Pencils. The thing I love most about this pencil is the shade, it’s a greyish taupe-brown and is a universal color, perfect for any skin tone!

It stays put throughout the day, application is a breeze, and the pencil doesn’t get dull/short too quickly.

Hit or Miss? Hit, of course!

PONi Cosmetics Brow Pop! 3-in-1 Brow Highlighter (A$26)

I’ve been using this a lot under the brows and it makes a subtle-but-actually-huge difference. This makes my brows appear bolder and sharper. I normally use the shade “No Pics Please”, a creamy whitish pink, on top of the brows, and “Practically Popcorn” , a very light whitish yellow, underneath the brows to make them pop out even more.

They blend out easily and best thing is, they dry out matte so they won’t interfere with our eye makeup.

Hit or Miss? Hit!

PONi Cosmetics Contouring Kit (A$49)

Honestly on the fence about this palette…

PONi Cosmetics Review - Swatches

The bronzer shade, Contour That PONi, is a shimmery bronze that is more of a bronzer than a contour shade. I personally don’t like contouring with shimmery powders, so I’ve been using this more as a bronzer. This shade is gorgeous as an all-over-lid eyeshadow shade! So I’ve been using it a lot more as an eyeshadow.

As for the highlighter, Highlight That PONi, I find that as a cheek highlighter, the color is too stark white, unlike Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl, which is a pearly white highlighter but looks iridescent and gorgeous on the skin. This just looks like I’ve applied white shimmery eyeshadow on my cheeks, so I’ve actually been using this more as an eyeshadow too.

The peach blush shade, Playful Peach PONi, barely had any pigmentation when blended on the skin. It showed up pretty well when heavily swatched on my hand but not when applied with a brush on my skin.

However, the baby pink blush, Pretty Pink PONi, is an absolute hit for me because it’s uber gorgeous on the skin and the pigmentation is incredible. It has a satin matte finish and lasted for about 5-6 hours on the skin before it starts fading.

Also note that all of these are very powdery and there will be a lot of crumbling and fallouts when you swirl your brush around the pans.

Hit or Miss? I’m honestly not sure because the bronzer and highlighter shades are great for the eyes, but not for the face. However, the pink blush is an absolute hit!

PONi Cosmetics Brow Powder No. 5 Thoroughbred (A$14.95)

Like its brow pencil counterpart, this is also an absolute hit because of its universal color! The powder is sufficiently pigmented and is definitely buildable. I love applying this with the PONi Pro Brow Brush.

Hit or Miss? Absolute hit!

PONi Cosmetics PONi Wax (A$12.95)

This brow wax looks really red-undertoned on the pan, but when applied it actually ends up looking much cooler/neutral toned. The problem I have with this wax is that it never really dried up properly on my brows, it just felt waxy throughout the day, I’d much rather use a clear mascara or a brow gel to set my brow hairs.

Hit or Miss? Unfortunately a miss.

PONi Cosmetics Pro Brow Brush (A$15)

I haven’t been able to put this brush down ever since I got this. I really like the angled brush, how soft but sturdy it is for applying both powder and wax products. The spoolee at the end is pretty rough, but I can still manage. I just really like the angled brush!

Hit or Miss? Hit!
