Shu Uemura Spring 2017 Play Date Collection Review

Shu Uemura Play Date Spring 2017

The recently released Shu Uemura Spring 2017 Play Date Collection features some of the cutest range of products the brand has ever released, including the limited edition pink Play Date Custom Palette Quad that is, of course, customizable.

Read on to see my thoughts and swatches!

The “Sunflower Orange” palette is one of three limited edition palettes in the collection. It features a light peach blush and three warm toned eyeshadow colors.

As you can see in the swatches below, the colors are super wearable! You don’t necessarily need another palette to create an entire eye look – simply use the middle copper-ish gold shade all over the lids, the dark brown on the outer corners and the light yellowish champagne on the inner corners to highlight and you’re good to go!

The blush looks so light on the pan and even when heavily swatched, but it’s actually pretty buildable and shows up well on my light-medium skintone.

The shadows lasted more than 8 hours on me but the blush only lasted for about 4-5 hours before considerably fading, maybe because it’s a very light shade?

The Sweet Pink eyeliner is also one of three eyeliner shades released as part of the Spring 2017 collection. I haven’t tried this one out yet as the color can be a bit tricky to wear as an eyeliner. I’m considering wearing this as a lip liner though! What do you think? Hehe.

As for the red lipstick, I don’t know the shade name and I’m honestly not entirely sure if it is part of this collection because from the press release photos they only seem to have released four lip colors and none of them was a red shade. This could actually be part of their Chinese New Year collection. I’ve asked the PR agency about this but I haven’t heard back from them yet – but will let you know once I hear from them.

I’ve worn it though and it wears very comfortably for over 6 hours – I’m impressed!

However, if I were to only grab one thing from the collection it would absolutely have to be the palettes. They’re customizable so you can change the colors out any way you like (as long as they’re Shu Uemura pans) and the pink palette is limited edition! The regular ones are black.

What do you think of this collection? Will you be getting anything?
