October 2016 Beauty Favorites

I haven’t posted a favorites in months because my makeup picks have been so repetitive, but I’ve been loving new things over the past two months.

I know we’re halfway through the month, but better late than never right? 😉

Makeup

Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder in 53 Light Beige

I’ve been very lazy when it comes to base makeup because my skin has been doing pretty well. So I’ve just been dusting this powder all over my face and also using this to set my under eye concealer on most days. I love how it has good coverage without that dreaded cakey finish. It actually has a soft, satin finish so it mattifies the skin without making it look dry and caked up!

FAIRYDROPS Scandal Queen Mascara

This is my current go-to mascara! I’ve actually been a fan of this mascara for years but I’ve just recently opened a new bottle and fell in love with it all over again. I love the wand so much because its unique and lumpy shape actually helps hug the lashes during application, making volumizing the lashes so much easier. The formula is also budge proof even though the one I have is not waterproof, and it’s got tiny little fibers that help create an illusion of longer lashes, but these fibers don’t fall out – they stay in tact all day.

Lancome Cushion BlushLancome Cushion Blush in Rose Givree

An in-depth review of this gorgeous blush is coming soon! This is similar to the L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Blushes I’ve reviewed here, but I like this way more because of the color. It gives the skin a dewy, natural looking pinched-cheeks kind of rosy flush. Perfect for days when I’m not wearing much makeup. However, these kinds of cushion blushes don’t apply well on top of powder, so make sure to apply this only on bare skin or on top of liquid/cream foundation.

LORAC Pro Palette

This is a rediscovery and I’m glad I started using this palette again. Amazing pigmentation and blendability, great and wearable color variety, and stays all day on the lids without primer. Pewter, Espresso, Mauve, Nude and Taupe are my favorite shades!

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in 15 Seductive Pink

This blush is so similar to the Covergirl TruBlend blushes, which I reviewed here, and I like that these are more travel friendly because they have smaller and more compact packaging. They’re nicely pigmented, blendable, and durable too. I highly recommend these, especially this shade!

NYX Tres Jolie Gel Pencil Liner in Pitch Black

I’ve never tried an eyeliner that is safe for use for contact lens wearers and that is completely budge and smear proof on the waterline. It took ages for this liner to wear off on the waterline, which is so darn impressive! Best pencil liner ever!

Real Techniques Miracle Mini Eraser Sponge

These tiny little miracle workers are perfect for undereye area, which is an area all mom-bies are so desperate to cover up. The contours on this sponge perfectly fit under the eyes, so it makes blending under the eyes so much easier, which is why they’re so much better than the Beautyblender minis!

Skincare

Clarisonic MIA Fit

I adore my Clarisonic Aria so much, but it’s so bulky and I can never take it with me when I travel. So when I received the Clarisonic MIA, I was so stoked because it’s much smaller and is amazing for travel! It’s got all the features of the Clarisonic Aria, but much more travel friendly. Definitely bringing this with me during the holidays!

cosmedix-benefit-clean-cleanser-2Cosmedix Benefit Gentle Cleanser

I haven’t been removing my makeup with a separate makeup remover ever since I started using this cleanser because this cleanser removes EVERYTHING, even waterproof mascara. So most days I’ve just been jumping into the shower with my full makeup on and washing it off in the shower with this cleanser on my Clarisonic. The more I use this cleanser, the more I love it. I’ve reviewed here, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s pretty expensive, but I think it’s so worth the investment because I can now say bye to makeup remover!

Kicho Ultra Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF 50 PA+++

This has been my day cream for the past month or so. Most mornings I’ve just been washing my face with my favorite morning cleanser, the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser featured in My Skincare Heroes post, and applying this straight after because this doubles up as moisturizer and sunscreen. This cream is so moisturizing but feels very lightweight on the skin, I highly recommend it.

Lanolips 101 Ointment Multi-Balm in Strawberry

My lips have been in recovery from a pretty major surgery for the past two months so I haven’t been wearing any lip color, but I do need it keep it super moisturized all day, and my favorite lip balm has been the Lanolips balms. I love both the Peach and Strawberry flavors so much! Best thing about these balms is that they’re multipurpose and can be used on other areas of the body.
